I am for No Budget, No Pay.

Simple question? I actually don't know that answer. But let's suppose he was the last President in office when the budget was balanced.

The answer to that question on the surface would be yes. But if the implication is that it was Clinton's idea and his doing because he was in office when it occurred, that would be wrong. It was the Republican Congress that promised the American people they would do this if elected and it was they who worked to get it done. Clinton was intimidated by the electorate when so many Dems were swept out of office at the midterm election. It was a backlash against his policies. Remember, this was when Hillary tried to introduce universal healthcare and this was rejected. Clinton's policies were not popular and the massive shift to Republicans at the midterm election was seen as a rejection of Clinton's policies. Thereafter, his Democrat colleagues tried to distance themselves from him at election time. Ever the master of spin, Clinton said after the election in his rasp, "The American people have spoken. They want a Republican Congress and a Democrat in the White House." But alas, the American electorate is fickle.

So when you ask me if Clinton was the last President when there was a balanced budget, it is not a simple question. It's like saying fuel costs went down during President Obama's term. That is a true statement but it had nothing to do with his energy policies. It occurred in spite of his policies. It was technology that spurred the reduction in costs. Obama did just about everything he could to discourage this from happening.

Sounds to me everything you just posted is what is wrong with our country today. In today's time both Republicans and Democrats fight each other on everything, even if they other has a good idea. Its very simple IMO, if all the republican ideas were the best for this country, then this country would have always been great under republicans and it hasn't. If all the Democrats ideas were the best for the country, then this country would always been great under Democrats but it is not.

Basically with what you just posted when this country was at a good time, was when we had a Democratic president. Yet instead of being hard headed and trying to fight the Republicans on a good idea, he ended up going along with it and it worked out very well for our country. At the end of the day he was the last president who actually was able to work better than most with both parties to get things done. Today though each side will fight the other side no matter what, just because they don't want the other side to look good on anything. It's sad really.

Until we have a President who says I don't care about the Republican ideas or the Democratic Ideas, I care about the ideas that make this Country great again. The our Country will continue to go down hill. They need to learn to compromise on things, and both sides are two hard headed to do so and think their ideas are the only ideas that work.
