Adair County 75 Taylor County 62

Bowling Green, Hopkinsville, and Christian County are 3 of the Top 5 teams in the State.... Trinity and PLD can probably be put in there too... Taylor County is nowhere close, losing to one of the worst teams in their Region. Two talented players but zero depth....

Trinity in the top 5? Come on man. I agree with most of your post except for that. Trinity is not a top 5 team in the state right now.

Yeah you are probably right....

There aren't many (any?) teams in Kentucky with 2 high major players.

Well, maybe not 2 high major players but at least 2 kids with high major offers. Sloan has SEC and ACC offers. Gooden had ACC, Big 12 and Big 10 that I know of; I want to say SEC as well. I consider those high major conferences.

Well we'll have to see how it shakes out. It's still hard to win it all even with 2 really good players. I think it takes at least 3 unless you have an absolute superstar.

I have Trinity in the 8-12 range right now. Their win over Fern Creek tonight is impressive. I think Fern Creek is pretty good and likely in that 8-12 range in the state also.

I think you have to have 3 really good players to win a title. At least two stars and a third guy who scores 10-12 PPG

Usually in high school basketball, it's easy to stop one superstar with no help. It becomes a little tougher with two but good coaches figure it out. It's really difficult to shut down three players at the high school level .

I really liked what I saw from Ezra Oliver last year. Is he not able to be that third guy?

I'm not talking about Taylor County specifically. I just meant in general.

Ezra was over shadowed last year due to Goodin, Sloan, and Berry....Now its just Goodin and Sloan, so teams really only have to worry about stopping those two instead of three. Teams last year would get so caught up in those three that they would over look Ezra, and he would come in and hit some big shots. I don't feel like it would be that way now.

This is why when the preseason predictions came out; I said that TC wouldn't run away with the region title. Still a long ways to go and they still could win the region. But they're not dominant this year. The drop off from Sloan and Q to the next three players in the line up is enormous. They have no inside presence to speak of. That's why North Hardin and John Hardin and Btown will give them fits down the stretch.

For as much heat as Gatewood takes on here, I'm surprised no one commended him for actually disciplining his 2 best players and holding them accountable.

For those who dont know, from my understanding, Gatewood sat out Goodin and Sloan for the first quarter of Cville game.

That shouldn't have made a difference. Adair is nowhere near a top team in the Region. TC has problems in regards to making a state title run. A good team is made up of more than just good players. There has to be good role players to compliment each other. Their supporting cast has caught up to them. Brandon Berry gave them a mulligan last year

Taylor isn't nearly as good IMO as they were last year. Berry Average 16 PPG on 53% shooting and grabbed 5 rebounds a game. Also had games were he scored 29 and 28 points. Webster avg. 6 points and 6 rebounds and gave them a physical and hustle guy. Morganson averaged 8 PPG shot 54% from the 3 point line, and could also run Point if he needed to.

Adair is far from the worse team in the region and has some talent. Beside Sloan and Goodin (who would start on 99.999% of the teams in the state) Nobody else from Taylor would Start for Adair County.

I agree with everything said here, except I would go ahead and round that up to 100% of the teams in the state. This is not the same Adair team from the last few years, the athleticism is being utilized in a much more conducive pace of play. When it comes down to it, I dont think Adair will win region, but I could see them with the right draw, making a run possibly to the finals. The region still runs though Taylor, North, and Bardstown, with John Hardin not far behind in my opinion.

I know this isn't exact science but Eastern matched Taylor well in the jamboree earlier this year. That same Eastern squad ( I assume they were full strength) loss to North Harding by over 20. North Hardin is middle of the pack state wide.
