Beechwood and Mayfield would both be on the west side of the bracket, also..

Why would NewCath and Beechwood be in separate sides of the bracket?

I didnt make the rules..The starter said use the same side of the bracket they're on now and Beechwoods in the west..

Should have read that, sorry. In real life, I'd assume that they'd be in the same district if this were to go down.

In reality, I would love to see Pikeville and Beechwood move up to 2a.. That would balance things out a bit with those 2 playing in the east.. Someone needs to challenge NCC from that part of the state and right now, Danville is about it and who knows if that was a one time really good team and they go back to mediocrity or if they continue playing strong ball.. Beechwood and Pikeville would be strong nearly every year and one of them would have likely represented the east in 2a this year..

MALE OVER BG

SW OVER BEFRY

MAYFIELD OVER PIKEVILLE

NO WINS FOR THE MOUNTAINS !

Highlands (454 boys) is smaller than South Warren (489 boys)

Highlands would be in 2A if there were only 3 classes.

I sure HHS would be in the mix for state title with 3 classes

Put on your PJs if you're going to be dreaming like that. Mayfield over Pikeville would NOT be a given, nor would South Warren over Belfry. Those actually would be very good games, IMO.

Exactly, Mayfield was indeed the champ and give them credit for that, but this was anywhere near the greatest Mayfield team. Bright is a nice player for sure, really good, but overall not a real athletic team and Pikeville would have a chance for sure. Maybe a 55-45% advantage for Mayfield. I know SW would be a challenge for Belfry due to their run defense, but the Belfry O line and a great D of their own would keep Belfry in it and maybe get the win. That would be a 50-50 game IMO.

Lol. Pikeville getting no love at all hardly on this thread. Everyone talks about the "Eky bias" on the other site, this one leans to the west pretty heavily. Interesting perspectives. Mayfield won their class, not knocking them at all. But if you really believe it would be that big of s blowout, you didn't watch the games.

Taking off the fan glasses (give it a try), both teams had stellar defenses, but Pikeville was far more explosive on offense, and consistently against everyone they played, was also capable of moving the chains at a clip of 3-4 yards at a time (except against Belfry), and that kind of clock control would be the difference maker. I would pick Pikeville in a game along the lines of 28-14 or 28-21, and if the D got turnovers, potentially bigger because they were one of the best teams in the state in 1A at stepping on the gas to take advantage of turnovers. That's exactly what they did against Beechwood. Went conservative before the half to milk clock, when forced into obvious passing down, got intercepted, and BW scored before the half, then came out and seized momentum to take the lead. Once they opened the playbook up again, Pikeville tied it, then expanded to a 3 TD lead in a matter of minutes. They were phenomenal that way this year.

Taking off the fan glasses (give it a try)...Wow

Looking at quality opponents, Mayfield had a record of 9-1.

Pikeville was 2-2. Their 2 wins were against 1A schools, with Daniel not playing for Paintsville, nor Stringer for Beechwood.

28-14 in favor of Pikeville sounds about right, but I think you're giving Mayfield too much credit. Especially since only one team scored more than 24 points against Mayfield all year, and they played 6A, 5A, 3A, and 2A teams.
