There is only one TitleTown and that is Danville/Boyle County, KY. You can't just take that title away without permission. And no, we aren't letting anyone have it. Make up your own names. We've been TitleTown for over a decade with no complaints or logical argument otherwise. TitleTown, KY is in Danville/Boyle County.

I'd classify it as a conspiracy theory, albeit an accurate one.

Urban Legend. I think it was more of an attempt to create better competition. Instead it seems to have created more dynasties.

I have a big issue with the game times that took place. Do realize that Western Kentucky needed use of their facility, but having two games end near midnight on Saturday and Sunday is simply unacceptable IMO.

 

First of all, the schedule should have been tweaked to have the schools closest to Bowling Green play the game on Thursday night. Then from there, games should have been scheduled based upon distance from the schools to Bowling Green. No way shape or form that a school from Eastern Kentucky should have been playing as late as Johnson Central and Pikeville did.

 

Pikeville won. Has anyone from Pikeville complained after the fact?

 

Johnson Central lost. How many drove home afterwards and how many spent the night? Any complaints from any Johnson Central folks? If Johnson Central had won would they be complaining or would they have had a blast in BG last night and then drove home today?

I don't know about a compromise between public and private, but, I think it's all about the money and getting every team possible in the playoffs.. With 6 classes, that means that 32 of 38 or 39 teams from each class make it in, while all teams from 1a and 6a make it because they only have 32 teams to begin with.. I'd like to see 4 classes with 48 teams, 6 teams per district and then an elite division with about 24 to 28 teams, which would be comprised of your best 6a teams based on how they've performed over the past 4 years.. I would even look at the elite 5a teams that are dominating their division to move into the 6a elite division..

I miss the days of 16 teams in each of four classes in the playoffs, but, that's just me. In some ways, having six classes has helped some schools with scheduling, because it bakes in an extra game, but, I still think it's too many classes. Among other things, the first round games are typically ridiculous. I know there are exceptions and I know there are counter points to

my view. Just an opinion.

While I hear what you're saying PP, he makes a valid point.. These games scheduled where the 2 local teams were given the prime slots.. No way did they want to see BGreen and SWarren play on the same day.. I really didn't like the late time slot on sunday.. A lot of folks had to drive back and go to work Monday morning without the option of taking the day off.. JC was the team that really got the shaft from a time slot perspective, even though it was a primetime slot for SWarren..

West side of the brackets won 4 of the 6. That was interesting.

A few observations

 

1) No private school winners. how long has it been since that happened or has it ever happened.

 

2) No NKy champions. How often has that happened.

 

3)Pike Co and Warren Co took home 4 of the 6 titles.. Which one would you call TitleTown.

 

4) not any of the 6 games were won by single digits. Does this signify too many classes.

 

5) Should the Semi finals be seeded to insure the best 2 teams make the finals.

 

1. 2000, but only because of the Trinity/St. X dominance. Privates can win in other classes, but never with that kind of frequency.

 

2. 2013, thanks to Collins. A bit more often before six classes.

 

3. Neither, really. No demeaning them, but they'd need to do it at least a couple of years to earn a moniker like that.

 

4. I agree with ATLCat and would like to try a five class system, but I doubt the KHSAA would go for it.

 

5. Yes. A good way to reduce logistical problems is to mix adjacent regions and set them on opposite sides of the bracket. That way nobody has to travel outside of their half of the state until the semi-finals (which might possibly be held at a neutral site), which gives roughly the same travel times/distances as seen under the current system.

By the time they get on buses to leave Rupp Arena it is easily 11:15ish. And yet, no one complains then.

Can you really call Louisville and the NKY areas "towns"? Those are metropolitan areas are they not? It's actually more of a shame they don't win all 6 titles every season isn't it?

 

Ask the people of BGP is it more impressive for a town/county of 30K with 2 high schools to have 17 combined state titles or for cities of Louisville/Cincy suburbs that have 100K+ people to have more titles spread amongst 20+ high schools?

True, but, the basketball is a blind draw where every team has the same chance of playing at wed noon as they do Thursday at 8:00 pm.. In this case, the KHSAA hand selected which games went where, therein lies the problem..

First, to touch on the VERY last point you made. Few complain then because they are leaving RUPP. At worst, generally speaking, about a 3 hour drive home for most of them. That's due to location.

 

To the main gist of the conversation, my biggest issue was really this: WHY did they not have the 1A game on Friday night? Heck, they easily could have had 2 games Friday and still allowed WKU and whoever they played plenty of time for access to the field during the day Friday AND get it cleared in time for the noon game Saturday.

 

While we stayed the night on Thursday and drove back Friday, I do know quite a few who drove back Thursday night after he game due to work commitments, and also some not able to pay the $139.00 a night (some were cheaper but booked) to just get a few hours sleep.

 

Just absolutely no way you can convince me that the logistics could not have worked by having at least the 1A game Friday. It would have been preferable to have 1A and 2A Friday, which would have allowed for 5 and 6A on Saturday with 3 and 4A on Sunday at earlier start times.

I think he was referring to the two specific areas where a single school has more titles than the two title town schools combined. I know there's a lot of other dynamics involved with being in the larger area. Fort Thomas has 17,000 people.
