Featured Replies

That could be the tallest center at HHS ever.....He is at least 6'5.

Not your prototypical high school center.

I'm curious, why does everyone think so highly of Southwestern? They have a solid team, but they have never done anything in the playoffs to warrant a top ten ranking.

I personally would rank them

1. Bowling Green (Loaded!)

2. Lex Catholic (Out of respect from last season.)

3. Boyle County (I think they will be very good, just not as good as BG.)

4. Highlands (Maybe a return to the title.)

5. Hopkinsville (Can they overtake BG?)

6. Rockcastle County (Should be their turn this year.)

7. Louisville Central (Lookout, this team was very young last year.)

8. Cov. Cath. (Expectations are always high, but they just can't seem to get over the hump.)

9. Bell County ( Not quite as good as the last couple of years, but still solid.)

10. Bullitt East (A young team, the sophomore and junior classes are very strong.)

I'm not sold on NB either, Central was just as young and better than NB last year. Plus, NB won't be as good at the wr position. They will be solid on defense, but they can't let themselves be one dimensional on offense. I think that will be a problem. Plus, you can't be ranked until you actually beat somebody, getting close doesn't cut it. Also, NB has to play at BE this year.

I can understand lex cath and bowling green, but I just don't think Boyle has done enough since the Smith's left to be placed above Highlands or maybe even Hopkins...

I know some have their doubts about Boyle, but you are talking about a team who was 11-2. They return a senior at QB, which is very important in their offense. I think they will be very good. I think one thing overlooked by most is the number of D-1 signees that Boyle had while Smith was the coach. He did a great job, but they had tons of talent to work with. The talent level is not as good as before, but they are still strong. Ultimately, it is about talent. The top teams in 3A usually have multiple D-1 players. That is why I favor BG this year, but I wouldn't write off Boyle just yet. I agree Highlands will be very good as I put in my post, I think they will make it to the title game.

Where are the great Ashland Tomcats?

Where are the great Ashland Tomcats?

I think Johnson Central will be the team to beat in that District and right behind Rock in the Region.

How about this...

1. Highlands

2. Lex Cath

3. Bowling Green

4. Cov. Cath.

5. Rockcastle

6. Bell Co.

7. Hopkinsville

8. Ashland

9. Franklin Co.

10. South Oldham (going out on a limb here)

No Boyle? When was the last time Boyle couldn't even make a top 10? I know we are not the teams of the past, but I'll take Boyle against any team on the bottom part of your list.

Perhaps not but maybe the team of the present that I think will surprise a lot of nay sayers.:thumb:

Ashland shouldn't be a pre-season top 10 team. They lost a lot and are probably going to be a very solid team and may crack the top 10 at some point but not coming into the season. Johnson Central is going to be a tough team to but i don't think they are top 10 material either. I think Rockcastle should be very high on everyones list, they return almost their whole line and are very strong at the skill positions. With a terrific coach in Larkey they have a chance this year to go to Louisville.

I do think Boyle will go far in the playoffs. With Boyle's rivial oppenents in our district at home (SW and Pulaski) Region, and Simi Finals all at home, someone is going to have to beat us at our place. With home field throughout I'll predict a Simi Finals apperance for this season.

From my view point I will have to agree with you. It's an all go from our family and we are looking forward to it:banana:

East will not even be close to a top ten program this year. Talk about one-dimensional, all they have is a good QB. North will have the Reynolds kid at WR probably about 1/2 the time; he is clearly a top-notch receiver. He looked great late last year, especially against Bullitt East and Southwestern. North will beat East by 3 TD's this year in Mt. Washington.

When you have had Boyle's success, what designates far? And what is deemed good?

I know at Trinity, losing in Round 3 or 4 is not necessarily a good thing, and no one gets praise for it, I would think at Boyle, the same would be true.

Right. You are in for a surprise then, if that is what you think. East will be far better than you think. I would personally give more respect to a team that I hadn't beaten in 8 years. North won't get any respect until they actually beat East or Louisville Central. Getting close doesn't count.

I think for most Rebel fans they would say Boyle does not have to go deep into the playoffs to be a success (Simi's or Finals). Heck not to long ago just having a winning season was a success. I would like to see atleast a Regional Championship, but if they don't I still will stand behind the kids for whatever season they might have had. If some kid was to not get praised for getting beat in the 3rd. or 4th. round in a season, I'd say Shame on you!

I think for the most part we Rebel fans aren't spoiled, and have to be in Louisville every season to have it count as a success. For myself I have the memories of 5 straight Titles to last me for a life time. Anything else would be consider GRAVY.
