I have lots that I love. Otis Redding at the Whiskey. Kiss Alive. Under A Blood Red Sky. Cheap Trick's At Budokan. The Band's Last Waltz. The Concert For Bangladesh. Cash's prison stuff. The Who's Live At Leeds. One More From The Road. MMJ's Okonokos. Wilco's Kicking Television. The Concert In Central Park. Live At The Apollo with James. Maiden's Live After Death. Thin Lizzy's Live And Dangerous. Neil's Live Rust. Unplugged in NY.

 

But I always keep coming back to the first live rock'n'roll album ever introduced to me by my uncle (1977 HS grad). Bob Seger became something cheesy in the '80s and beyond, but '70s Bob was incredible, and his band was, too.

 

Give "Live Bullet" a spin and I dare you to not dance to "Nutbush City Limits" (one of few covers in history better than the original — Ike and Tina Turner) and "Ramblin', Gamblin' Man."

 

Those two are the standouts, but there are many others. "Kathmandu," for example. "Turn The Page," as well (and not that atrocious Mascaraca cover). "Travelin' Man." Really, I can't name all the songs, but it's all outstanding stuff. Some of the best tunes are the ones that weren't "hits."

I came specifically to mention Unplugged in New York, but I see you covered that one.

 

Not the best, but I'm a fan of Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit Live from Alabama.

For me, it's Neil Young's "Live Rust", The Band's "Last Waltz", Ben Harper's "Live From Mars", and Neil Young's "Live From Massey Hall"...in that order.

Wanted to restrict it to single-band projects. "The Last Waltz" barely qualifies. But the Woodstock stuff is great. CWB's favorite part was always the Sha Na Na set.
