The one thing that impressed me about Daric Pugh is, he dedicated himself tremendously every day, both physically and mentally He "attacked" the weight room to get better daily. when interviewed on media day, he stated he had one goal, and he fulfilled that goal last night at WKU.

IMO place Pugh up there with the all time greats at PHS. Argue all day about who would be number one, but at minimum Pugh is near the top of the list IMO!

He was as I thought from the film except one thing ... faster than expected. He doesn't look fast, but as I was watching film no one was catching him, so I started to wonder. Then last night when Slusher did not catch him on the late TD run, that made it clear the big boy has really good speed too. A high school John Riggins. Straight ahead power plus speed. Very impressed with him.

Over the past two years Pugh has had 339 carries for 3400 yards and 55 rushing TDs that's 10 yard's per Carry and a TD every 5.7 carries.

Any college interest?

Not much. Would like to have seen someone at Pikeville really doing the leg work to get him looked at! To much talent to not get multiple D1 offers!

He is big and fast enough to play on the defensive side of the ball. He is not shifty enough to be a running back at a D1 imo.

I would love to see him try to be a D1 linebacker or fullback at the next level. I believe he can do it with his mental toughness, strength, and speed.

Surely somebody, somewhere, will be willing to take a chance at this kid.

If nothing happens for this football stud, I know two D-3 coaches and would be able to do what ever I can.

How does he rank in all time backs at Pikeville? I saw play against Paintsville and Beechwood. The kid can play.

 

I think he had more speed than the Dermaus brothers because you know they were all about power running. He has more power than the Baileys but they had more speed than he did. The best back I think IMO to ever come out of Pikeville was the late Brett Coleman. His sophmore in 94 he had a late fumble against us that cliched our victory against them. He ran very hard and had speed as well.

Pugh ended his high school career with the most yards per carry average and is the third in total points . 4 points behind Bailey and 2 behind Huffman. Hard to compare backs from different times and offenses
