Well..... apparently I am now a fan of the Canes. I have been a fan of Richt for many years. He puts the class in classy. I wish him the best.

For a man to be as classy as he was for the way Georgia let him go, you can't help but root for the man. I hope he is able to get the canes in National Title contention in a couple years so that AD can realize he's as stupid as he looks.

Priority number 1 for Mark Richt, get to start on new facilities. Getting a new stadium will take a while, but they have to make small improvements steadily if they want to win the recruiting battle in the state of Florida. The facilities FSU and UF have are first class as opposed to Miami. While I was a little bit apprehensive at first, the more I think about it the more I think Richt was the best possible hire for Miami. I don't think they are playoff contenders in 5 years, but they will perennially be a top 25 team coming out of that conference and could easily slip into a conference title game sort of like UNC did this year. If Richt is into Miami for the long haul, I think he is the right guy to bring back "The U." Well, at least a lot classier version of it.

I would assume this puts the Canes in a decent spot to land the #1 QB recruit. Jacob Eason committed to UGA two years ago but said he is now looking at his options due to the firing. Visited the Gators this week.

Hopefully he can keep his nose clean...

Isn't it ironic...don't ya think...

In all seriousness, I'm happy for Richt. By all accounts, he's a good dude. I'm amazed he wasn't fired from UGA years ago, but he landed on his feet and he'll likely return Miami to national prominence in no time.

He already has the recruiting class.

Michael Irvin Jr. will be playing there next year and Isaac Bruces's son.

College football is better when The U is good!

College football is at its best when all of the perennial powers are good. Schools that I want to return to relevancy ASAP: Miami, Nebraska, USC, and Texas.

I'll never understand that sentiment. Maybe its because I'm not a fan of an old school power.

I think college football is pretty great when Louisville can beat Miami by 27.

I just think the most passionate fans, should have the opportunity to see their teams win. I think college football is horrible when Texas and Nebraska can't even get to bowl eligible. I know I'll make some people mad on here by saying this, but college football is HORRIBLE if Louisville and Kentucky are actually good at football. Just college basketball is HORRIBLE when Kentucky and Louisville aren't any good. I believe you are a Cards fan, correct? If so, I'm sure you a pretty passionate fan for both sports. But I think everyone on here needs to keep in mind that those who aren't on this site, which is 99% of fans for both schools, aren't as passionate about sports in general as we are and it is safe to say that both get 10 times as worked up over basketball than football. Not to say they don't care about their football teams, but they aren't paying 20 dollars a month to stay up till 1 in the morning discussing what went wrong with a game that night. The fans at Nebraska, Texas, USC, and Miami talk football year round and talk about football like we talk about basketball in Kentucky. The discuss who their coach is bringing in as a recruit, just like you can walk into a restaurant in Lexington in the middle of July and here people talking about what recruits Cal is bringing in next year, when football season hasn't even started. I think its best that the fans that care the most about football, have a good football team and the fans that care the most about basketball have a good basketball team. I've said this many times before but BGP is a bad way to define how a fan base feels as a whole because we are all extremely passionate about sports because we are willing to pay to talk about it. We are a rare breed and I think its best we remember that. Sorry for the rant.

Is anyone old here old enough to remember when Miami played their home games on Friday nights?

Still pumped. Slam dunk! Proven winner! Lost his fire but if it's still there certainly getting canned at UGA will relight it.

Bring back the U!!!!

Think he could sway Eason to come play his college ball there? He looks pretty special, and I think his father and uncle were both pros.
