I disagree, I've seen Crawford play when he's been face guarded the entire game. He can and will be slowed down in several games this year. The first game will probably be Mason Co when he and Pig Williams go head to head.

Since he singlehandedly got an OK player 2 District Championships and a Runner Up (1/4 of an inch from being a "three-peat" Championship), multiple 20 win seasons, 10th Region POY, 2nd and 3rd team all-state recognition, a narrow semi-final Regional exit his Senior year, and a Full Scholarship to Bellarmine University: following this logic, I would expect nothing less at Bracken than 2 district champsionships, a Class A State Title, at least 1 regional championship, 2-25 win seasons, at least 1 win at Rupp, and Austin as KY Mr. Basketball (which I think he also mentioned) and finally wearing "Calipari Blue" after next season.

If I am not mistaken Coach said Brent was not a pratice player and liked to work on his game on his own, but could always be counted on in big situations, where Austin works as hard in pratice with his teamates as he does in a game. They just want to get better as a team and last night was a big step in the right direction. I was a guest on Dawgs show you are refering to so i heard the whole thing.

I feel like you're saying this because he said Brent was an "OK" player when he was clearly more than just "OK". Austin is definitely not the player that Brent is and won't be IMO. Yes Austin can score and against weak opponents he will score in bunches. But when he's had to deal with adversity I haven't seen him respond well yet. When Brent faced adversity that seemed to be when he was at his best. The best players show up when it's crunch time which is why I believe there will not be a player like Brent in the 10th region for quite a while.

I'll have to listen to the podcast to verify, but i don't remember him saying that at all. Jason DID say that Austin worked harder in practice that any good player he had. he continued to say that Bach "wasn't much of a practice player, but turned it on when he had to. Brent preferred to work individually to improve" Everyone who's been around the area knows that Brent Bach worked his tail off, shooting 500+ shots a day to get better. It's nice to hear that Austin is working hard in his own way to get better, too. BOTH are special, once in a generation players for their respective schools.

You guys are misinterpreting my intent here........my post up till this one have been genuine but I'll admit this was a little tongue in cheek. I certainly never mean to disparage Austin's abilities in any way nor any player's. He's a tremendous player but I always think it's not productive to compare any player to another; too many variables. I'm telling you, BC is the "real deal" and that's not sarcasm. I realize that it's hard to not interpret it that way since I'm a life long Panther but understand; I'm sincere. As for Hinson, we agreed to disagree about his move to BC but parted amicably as a far as I'm concerned and I don't wish him any ill will. I truly believe he has a talent for getting the most out of what he has to work with. That's the "magic" I mentioned. I've always seen the BC vs' Augusta rivalry as just another game unless it involved winning a tournament. Our goal has always been to win games and be successful in the post season and that road always runs through Mason County in our District.......Good luck to BC, Hinson but especially Austin.....

Crawford has the height advantage but Williams has the speed and athleticism advantage. I've been high on Pig's defense ever since he shut down Beetel Bolden last season. I've watched Pig and Austin grow up playing against eachother since the 3rd grade AAU days. I also don't beleieve in the whole "young" spill with Crawford, anyone who knows him knows he's mature beyond his age.

 

If Williams stays out of foul trouble and is able to guard Austin the majority of the game it will show. But that depends on how the game is officiated. Either way it will be a fun game to attend regardless of which side you're on.
