As far as anybody knows, NCC maybe holding out their whole season for a big surprise. Mayfield is not going into this thinking we got this. That is not a smart move... Mayfield knows that any team on any day can win on any field. NCC is there for a reason and has been there for a reason... If you do not think they are capable of knocking off us your crazier and then I am... I am pretty crazy... Mayfield will prepare for the game of their lives. They want the title and will prepare for this game as if they were playing The Crimson Tide. I for one take my hats off to NCC for winning the east and wish them the best!! may the best team win!! A lot of posts on here are either 1) people accusing Mayfield fans of being cocky or 2) Mayfield fans being cocky. And we are being on our best behavior, and the Guru goes and posts this thread lol.

 

I think NCC is probably feeling like they are a team of destiny. Dangerous type of team. This game has an instant classic feel to me.

Joe knows how to get these boys motivated, if Mayfield was to lose it won't be because they are over confident. This is for the state championship, the players and coaches will treat it as such.

Would be nice for them to become the new BW, property of the Mayfield Cardinals. We will have to revisit that in a few years to see if that works out for us like it did with BW. The Cards already own a 2-1 lead with the Breds. Back years ago when MF and BW began to play every year some of the NCC fans would talk a lot of smack, you don't hear much of that these days. DeSales kind of took over that spot this year and some of them were really fun to mix it up with. So far the Breds fans on here seem a lot more cautious than the almighty ones from some past years.

 

If you watch the films of the Breds, including recent games like Danville and Beechwood, it is very encouraging. If the Cards do play to their potential they will win this game but sometimes the game takes crazy turns, just ask the ADs who beat the brakes off them and still lost. I fully expect a Cards win!

 

Don't let time fade the memories, "property" is probably not the best word to use, it insinuates domination, which has happened perhaps in 2 of the matchups over time. Every game was a fist fight until 4th qtr, sometimes until the very last seconds, Mayfield just always found a way to be the one that came out on top. but I do think MF should have this matchup in the bag for this year.

All kidding aside, I didn't read the Mayfield/NCC thread before posting this. This question has been on my mind ever since Beechwood handled NewCath in Fort Mitchell.

NewCath hovering around 355 total students at last check. Right now NewCath is the 4th smallest 2A school.

Several MF players went in early this morning for a film session before classes started. They didn't seem overconfident to me...

This comes down to NewCath's willingness to open it up and Hentschen's willingness to let it rip. Smith is the one offensive weapon that NewCath has that will match up favorably with Mayfield ' s speed. Harris is quick, but isn't hitting home runs against the Cards. Both will need to have Mayfield respect the pass enough to not walk up to 9 guys into the box. NewCath's TE is way too under utilized. He has to peoccupy safeties and get targets.
