Mike Wilbon Says This About Ohio State

Featured Replies

On PTI tonight Michael Wilbon said that he doesn't think Elliott should have said what he said, but he believes Urban Meyer has handled this perfect. He believes Ohio State and specifically Urban Meyer can sort of rally the troops off of this and put that chip back on their shoulders that has been missing all year. Do you agree?

The only problem is they don't control their destiny. It could be true if Mich st loses

Too little to late.

Meyer pulled playing calling from Warinner and it didn't work, gave it to Beck who was just as bad. 2015 is over, get an OC for 2016.

Beating Michigan and going to a New Years 6 bowl game is a successful season. Not the ultimate prize, but Armageddon would have to happen for OSU to get back in the conversation.

Wishful thinking by MW. The Buckeyes are clearly not a united team. You knew something was going on with their disjointed overall play this season. Simply a case of not enough footballs to go around.

What another said earlier is the truth, sad part for OSU fans. Before Saturday all the Bucks had to do is win, keep winning and imo they could have been the #1 seed. That's all down the toilet now and several things that they can't control have to happen...1. Penn State has to beat Sparty. (no control over that one). OSU of course has to win out if they get the shot at the BIG10 Championship game. All while the BIG10 stuff is going down, I think that may put the Bucks back in but a Stanford win over ND would be nice as well as Oklahoma losing.

All in all it's a slim chance (if any) for OSU this season and they have no one to blame but themselves. Regardless, next season imo Meyer will have a new O.C. and will be back in the playoffs, if not next season, sooner rather than later.

As always ....GO BUCKS !

I think Meyer handled it wrong. Can you imagine how Coach Cal would handle it if a player publicly criticized the coaching staff? Cal's player would have encountered his wrath all week and in all likelihood not played the next game. No player is bigger than any program. My guess is Elliott has damaged himself somewhat in the NFL draft. Leaders don't air their laundry the way Elliot did.

Guess it depends on if the player was right or not, Zeke said what everyone else in the country said. Not even subscribes to political correctness. I don't think it will hurt his NFL stock at all, you have a first round pick who could have been mailing it in to protect himself from injury, fighting for more carries to help his team win.

Not sure about the drop in draft stock.

For example, Jameis Winston had a lot more baggage.

Ya think ? :thumb::lol2: He was a walking, talking definition of entitled punk.

I am not saying he wasn't right at all. But a leader on the team, in my opinion, should never publicly criticize his coach. And if the NFL does half the stuff it appears they do in evaluating a prospect, I just don't think they would look favorably on a player airing laundry like that. I know he is a kid but, right or wrong, he should have kept it behind closed doors.

No question and there is no doubt the NFL will take any player they think will help them win, no matter the character, but but when you are choosing between 2 players evaluating the same they will typically pick the "perceived" good guy. Winston graded out well enough to overcome the "perceived" character issues.

My only question to all of you that are trashing Zeke, is how bad really was this? Should he have kept this in the locker room? Probably. But this is far from being a real issue IMO. Would you rather him say the whole cliche "we just didn't execute and we've just got to do a better job of executing in the future." I don't. I want him to say what he said, I want the truth from players. No one could have executed that gameplan and won that game. Zeke didn't lie, he only told the cold hard truth. You all are acting like Urban Meyer is going to get his feelings hurt because one of his players said the coaches had a bad game plan. Urban Meyer has probably the thickest skin of anyone in football, everything he went through at Florida and you all think he should be bothered by this? This should be a non-story outside of Columbus. Zeke was frustrated after the game and shouldn't have talked to the media at all, but if you want him to talk and say something other than what he said, then you're the problem not Ezekiel Elliott. It is absolutely frustrating to watch espn or listen to sports talk radio and all you hear is how Zeke shouldn't say that, Urban Meyer has 3 championships. I guess Ohio State was just overrated anyways. If you came away from that game feeling that Ohio State was overrated, you are simply wrong. They still have more talent than any team in the country, they just had probably the worst game plan in the history of game plans and lost a game they should have won easily.

^Maybe so. I'd venture you'd have a completely different take on it had it been Leonard Fournette at LSU or Henry down at Bama though....:idunno:
