November 28, 201510 yr Maybe the next EKU head coach will realize that Tomas More makes deep playoff runs every year because EKU's program does not recruit NKy. Sorry, EKU spending public $ on character challenged out of state kids, forcing our kids to go out of state to play just burns me up. Good Riddance Coach Hood! I'm not sure if you know this or not but TM is D3 and EKU is FCS. That is a huge difference. I'm not a fan of the lack of recruiting in KY/NKY but let's be real here and never compare those two programs ever again other than saying they are both in KY.
November 28, 201510 yr Just from memory, in last years class : Ross Hedger Olmstead Deaton Given time, I could think of more. Furthermore, I find really strange that Coach Hood, who puts on this fabulous Christian Facade, imports some of the most character challenged people out there. He likes giving players second chances and most of those kids come from broken homes. Dean is a great man he has made some mistakes with regards to his recruiting and staff moves but he doesn't deserve an attack like that. Unless you know the man personally don't ever speak of his faith.
November 28, 201510 yr Just throwing this out there, any chance EKU pursues former Colonel and current UPike HC Al Hollan Jr? I don't believe so. He is doing well, having fun and gaining valuable coaching exp. with that being said President Benson is wanting the program to be at the FBS level and will not settle for less. I could see Al coming back to EKU at some point but not HC, atleast right now.
November 28, 201510 yr That Kentucky loss did him in. The Cats are coach killers. You are right if you are referring to Lexington and the U.K. Job it's self being a place where coaching careers go to die. Lol
November 29, 201510 yr Article by Mark Story on the firing. It looks like my son photo bombed the picture in the article. He's #46. Mark Story: Did EKU do right by Dean Hood? | Lexington Herald-Leader

November 30, 201510 yr Posting comes down 12/2 and the AD is saying a decision will come quickly. That leads me to think it's someone on the current staff, most likely Wells. Where's Chuck Smith at nowadays?

December 1, 201510 yr I know several kids that played under Coach Hood. Most of them do not speak fondly of him nor could I. The times I dealt with him and his staff they were rather rude. The kids all seemed to know this was going to happen last year. The rumor I heard was he will be at OSU next year. I wish I could say something nice about him but I can't. The dorms the team stay in are substandard at best. As of players I'm sure there are some bad apples but all the players I have met were respectful and very nice. Alot of them have even stayed in my home on there way to there own homes I never had any issues at all.

Position coaches are usually the ones liked most by players because that's who they spend most of their time with. Head coaches are usually least liked by players because head coaches don't have luxury of forming relationships with 100+ players. When Hood was at EKU as a DB coach everyone liked and respected him and a large majority didn't like Roy Kidd.
