November 23, 201510 yr Like I was saying . . .I stand by my original comment. When it's 3rd & 2 in that situation, Tom Brady makes that pass. You Andy Dalton are not Tom Brady. You don't need that play. You have a good team around you Andy. Manage the game and don't screw it up. I want to be honest in that I'm one of the few that had no problem with Pete Carroll's call in the Super Bowl. They just didn't make the play. In the playoffs, I hope the Bengals run the ball there, but I stand by my assertion that at this time of year, I am ok going for the 1st, and potentially the win. NFL OT is a crap shoot, less than it was in the past, but still a crap shoot especially w/ a patchwork secondary.
November 23, 201510 yr The Bengals have been a top 10 defense over the years and even the top scoring defense in the NFL this year by relying on their front four. They quite honestly are not that good of a blitzing teams, and the few times they do they usually get burnt. Just like last week against Houston when they got burnt twice on third and long on blitzes. I have no problem with them blitzing, but I think they should have stayed with their normal base pass coverage instead of prevent. The Bengals normal base pass defense has two safeties high and people usually can't get over the top of them, even though the Cardinals did earlier on a blown coverage. The bengals playing so far off, made it to easy for Palmer to throw his deep in cut, deep out, etc. I mostly mean they should've blitzed a ton on that last drive... Bengals were down to their 5th and 6th corners and Nelson was out too at safety. Just blitz and don't let him set his feet for deep throws.

When teams blitz the Bengals it seems like they are all over Dalton, but when the Bengals blitz people seem to always pick it up. So yeah you could have blitzed, but then you are leaving 3rd string corners one on one with people like Fitzgerald and two speed receivers in Brown and that rookie. Dropping back 7 guys, there was no reason why Palmer should have had a wide open guy running a deep in cut in the middle of the field. That was the play that put the Bengals on their heels.
November 23, 201510 yr Author Same ole stuff... Yes and no. Same ole stuff has the Bengals getting blown out on the road once they get down and have a horrible third quarter like they did. However this team has shown that this isn't the same ole Bengals in that regard. However in regard to coaching still having horrible time management, then yes it is still same ole Bengals. Which honestly I thought Marvin did a great job with the game, and loved the 4th down call when down 14 instead of kicking a field goal and playing conservative like he usually does. However sure enough with a minute to go, the time management decisions finally cost them. Which sounds like it was on all three Marvin, Hue and Dalton.

November 23, 201510 yr Author CP is 21-4 in his last 25 starts. Not bad for a QB who people said was a bum and the worst QB in the league, and should only be a backup in the league. Its not like there could have been any reasons for he struggled his last year here and first two with the Raiders... For what its worth I was loving it when the threw those two early interceptions. I like Palmer, but I wanted him to play horrible last night.
