BGHS asked Fern Creek to play at 5 PM CT in an attempt to allow fans to go to both games. Fern Creek refused to play early.

At least they tried to make it happen! It's a shame they didn't want to! Did they give any reason why they declined?

It would have been neat, but I can see why Fern Creek would decline. They have little incentive to move it and coaches/players being creatures of habit, I'm sure they'd prefer to keep a standard schedule.
