Is Les Miles on his way out

Featured Replies

All comes down to one thing. Les has lost his last 5 against Saban...

It's all it could possibly be when you're winning 75% of your games.

It's Earle Bruce all over again.

4* QB commit Feleipe Franks decommitted today.

LSU might be wise to look at what has occurred with their neighbors who are 400 miles west. They let go a coach with a very similar resume. Mack Brown had won 76.7% of his games over 16 years in Austin. He won 10+ games in 9 of those 16 seasons. Since parting ways with Brown the Longhorns have gone 10-13 thus far. The grass isn't always greener....

If LSU fires Les this season it is either because they know they have Jimbo on the way or they have their heads so far up their butts they just assume that if they fire Les that Jimbo will automatically come running.

Kind of like UK fans thinking that Donovan would come running to Lexington...we saw how that played out.

Do I remember the SI article a few years ago correctly that Louisiana has the best per capita NFL player ratio or college player ratio?

YES...

People may have said the same about UK and Tubby.

They expect to contend for titles every year. Look at the last 4 years. Not pretty per LSU standards. 5 losses last year. 19-12 in the SEC over the last 4 years.

Why would LSU feel like that? LSU is an elite program because Saban and Miles built it into one. 7 SEC titles in 40 years, that's more on par with a program like Washington than the Alabamas, Floridas, and Ohio States of the world.

Great program, but its not like they have this centuries worth of tradition. They're lucky to have Les Miles. Outside of stealing Jimbo Fisher (who would be crazy to leave FSU), who are they going to get that is an upgrade? Can they get a Dantonio or a Patterson? Can't pay over $20 million in buyouts and come out with Herman (who I THINK will be great) or Fuente.

Fisher, Patterson, Dantonio, Art Briles, Swinney (Big name, but IDK), NFL Coach (John Harbaugh???) or this a huge disaster.

So for a program to expect to win they have to have a history of it? OK, makes zero sense but whatever.

As a coach, if you're making $4MM+ per year with the talent Miles has, you better not be losing 3+ games per year. And you sure as heck better not be getting smoked by Ole Miss at home.

To demand national titles at a place like that is ridiculous. LSU for most of their history was not a title contender. They have Saban and Miles to thank for that. They are still relevant.

It would not be inconceivable for LSU to win it all next year with Miles back. If they struggle with all their talent being upperclassmen then maybe the ship has sailed.

Who said demand titles? They just need to be in the hunt. They aren't and haven't been for 4 years. You don't pay $4MM+ a year for 3+ losses a year (5 losses in 2014) and smile about.

He was in the title game 3 season ago. This is season four.

Is that not recent enough?

how many schools have had more talent the last 4 years then LSU?

All three of the champions in that time period did...Bama, FSU and OSU. Oregon did. Auburn had similar but better QB play.
