Can the very talented Michael Vicars (NCC) hit 1,700 yards in 2006?

Featured Replies

Vicars, a 5-11 175 pound runing back rushed more than 1,400 yards last season for a team that had a very good quarterback.

Does anyone think he will better 1,400 this season?

Is he one of the best in the state?

I think he can. The key is a senior dominated line that is returning 4 out 5 starters from last years State Champion team. He will be fun to watch IMO.

Thats the key, he can run for that if he gets some help from the line..:thumb:

I think he can too. I really liked Vicars last year, I think he is very similar to Kramer from HHS.

I hate these kids of threads because kids can get sidetracked into worrying about personal stats and take their eye off the prize. I would think another ring is all Mr. Vickars should worry about. Remember Michael, Scars fade,.... pain heals,.... but glory lasts forever!

I say he will simply because the good QB has graduated and he will have to do the heavy lifting on offense until the new QB finds his bearings.

This thread is okay for this season, but since the thread is about '07, watch out. jk! It does take some kids attention, but don't think it will hold water with this one. Good kid/ football player with a great attitude. The real issue will be about the guy taking the shotgun snaps handing him the ball. I was really immpressed at the way the NCC kids conducted themselves during the region game last year. Thought LCA was a better team, as did most of the people who knew about their talent, but NCC was just simply WAY more prepared for not only that game, but a run at the title.

The better question is can Michael lead the Breds to another state title without Sam.

Maybe he can hit 1700 yards... but if they win state and he only rushes for 900, I'm sure he'll be happy with it.

Jarred Harris will be the Qb this year.Michael and Jarred Have been playing football together since the third grade.I know this is not peewee ball,But they are familiar with taking snaps and handing the ball off between them.they are two good kids who play hard and IMO they will be very good this year.

I would like to see all of the people who thought that LCA was a better team than NCC . . . . . . . . . . even talent wise--it wasn't close.

Line: NCC

QB: NCC

RB: LCA (but--I don't even agree with that)

WR's: Draw

DL: NCC

LB's: Draw--leaning towards NCC

DB's: NCC

IF I remember correctly--it wasn't close.

Back on topic--it will be interesting to see how many yards Vicars ends up with. What people don't realize--is that NCC did a really good job of disguising the fact that they were a running team last season (the beauty of the long ball). Off the top of my head (and I know that I am pretty close)--NCC was approximately 65% run/35% pass (that is for the entire year--not counting the state championship or semi final games). Naturally, Vicars carried the load. I would expect more of the same--but teams will be able to play a little different defensively this year--especially at the beginning of the season. (Which could end up helping or hurting NCC in the long run).

I don't think that it will be such a mystery this year. If they try to force the ball to open up the run--that is where they will come into issues. If they embrace the fact that they are more of a running team--I think that they will be hard to deal with.

NCC won 40-14 over LCA.

That was exactly what I was thinking . . . . . . . . .

I still can't figure out how LCA was more talented.

They had some talent--but not more than NCC.

The best team won--and they did it without a great deal of effort.

I definitely don't think 1,700 yards is out of the question especially if they make a deep run through the playoffs again. When you add in an experienced offense line and probally more of a run dependent offense this kid could get some big numbers. However the Harris kid is no joke and will fill Diehl's shoes nicely in the offense. He has a gun and if NCC plays the same style as they did last year, the balance between run and pass should be about even. Harris is the ying to Vicars's yang.
