Both 2 and 1 are freshmen. One thing about high school kids, hell, college or even the guys in the pros, but especially 14 year olds...in the heat of things, they don't always do what they are coached to do.

Glad to see E-town advance. Wilson and their passing game has been the difference these last two games (defense has been stout all year). Kudos to them for stepping up and making plays.

When you are a 3 back, powerful rushing attack and your passing game can account for over 200 yds/game and 3 TD's in a couple of huge games vs. Big time opponents; it creates a whole 'nother monster to deal with.

Wilson in his almost 1500 yards passing has 22 TD's and 2 INT's (and, one of those I know for a fact was at the end of a half hail Mary earlier in the year). That's about as good as it gets.

Etown had to throw to endzone since Caldwell clock operators were running as much time off each play as possible. 3 times in final minute referee made them put time back on.

Talk about your home cookin.

Seems to be a pattern there with the clock operator.

Even if the pass was out of the end zone or batted down (and the clock operator was a bit "slow" to stop it) ... E'town HAD to go end zone there.

There's no rational thought E'town could have gone 10-15-20 downfield and gotten out of bounds and then tried for a shorter final pass. End zone was it.

Caldwell should have known that.

And I like the courage to stick with freshmen there ... but like Harry Doyle said, freshmen don't always do what they're coached (especially in big-time situations).

For E'town, it was senior-to-senior (with another senior, Sullivan, in the front part of the end zone in case of a short pass/tip/deflection chance).

If Caldwell had any timeouts there, they should have used one. I do NOT think it would have helped E'town more to draw up a play (most teams already have that in the book should it come down to last-chance scenario), but based on the result, Caldwell had MORE to gain from it.

I agree throwing deep was Etowns best shot.

However, they were inside 40 (37 if I remember), so couldve tried for about 10-15 more yards used their last timeout and potentially tried a FG only down 1.

With the inconsistency of the Etown kicking game endzone shot was best call.

I have said all year that Etown wasn't very good and weak schedule.. But I have eaten crow each week.. Their wins vs Paducah and Caldwell solidify them to me. They are for real and a lot of credit is given to Coach Brown but I think the qb/lb deserves a lot. I'm not a fan of Cecil due to his actions but qb and the RB Cates are quality players. I think they have a great chemistry on the team. With all that said, I pick against them again this week

I do think Cecil has matured by leaps and bounds this year.

I can't stop smiling today......

Let's play

@RickGrimes, Cecil has indeed matured, even if there is still a ways to go. He's one fierce competitor & passionate about the game & competition itself. Before Brown got there, he was packin' the mail 30x a game...learning to share the load now has been a transition for him. But it has helped him to become a better teammate & well rounded player. I'm sure "the quiet storm" will be on display tonight...especially being the underdog against LC.

As I posted before - if a team is undefeated at this point they are more than just a good team. I saw an interesting analysis of some key 3A teams, and yes, the Panthers played a not so strong schedule during the regular season. But they have now proven themselves under fire.

This will likely be another exciting 3A game tonight.

Some key statistics for tonight.
