Not sure I could ever cheer for Lex Cath, but feel like their tough non-district schedule will get them to the promised land.

Of course it would not hurt my feelings a bit to admit I was wrong!

Lex Cath advances in this one. They are IMO the best team in Class 3A

So the best team in 3A you beat earlier in the year.. But a 3A team named Belfry isn't? ( which put a running clock on JC)

Lex. Cath isn't the team that they were when JC beat them and JC isn't the team they are when they beat Lex. Cath. JC also sat out multiple players in that matchup against Belfry in an attempt to heal up for the playoffs.

I agree on resting players but a running clock makes it look bad. I agree. JC hasn't got worse they just think teams are going to lay down for them.

Not fast enough to keep up with Paducah Tilghman and too weak of schedule to compete with Caldwell yet still here.

Coach Brown and Coach Perry very familiar with each others schemes from time at John and Central Hardin. I think we are in for another great game.

I would just hope for the best against Catholic after the way E towns prayer was answered, they were very lucky to advance.

JC was missing three players

Let's not paint the picture their entire team was out.

Not the picture I was painting, just stating the facts. JC was not the same team when Belfry played them plain and simple.

Worst Etown played offensively all year. For some reason RBs kept wanting to cut up when room on edge for days and very uncharacteristic turnovers. Caldwell couldnt run ball against 3 man line and Etown got plenty of pressure on QB. Turnovers gave Caldwell great field position several times but Etown D held them out of endzone.

Last play of game was very fortunate but dont act like Etown didnt play well enough the previous 47 min to deserve to win the game. Great effort by both teams.

Heck if anything ask Caldwell coach why #25 doesnt get ball more. Other than reverse flea flicker he was absent on offense.

And at end of game it seemed weird he was at CB instead of Safety. At Safety he has a chance on any deep ball. At CB it seemed like the plan for Etown was to throw away from him.

Rick, I agree. Not a great showing offensively for the Panthers, but our defense picked us up. The hail mary was lucky, but it takes some luck to win these kinds of games against great teams. For example...the 54yd. field goal the Tigers hit in a 15 mph cross-wind.....only to miss an XP later. 2 sides to every story. Bottom Line, Caldwell lost a heart breaker to a good team. Both are very deserving. Congrats to both teams on a great season. FWIW...if you believe in Karma, as Mark Brown how he felt losing to BG in '12 on the 'ole Hook & Ladder(Georgia Pass).

Todd Griffin took a photo the E'town paper used.

Shows Payne (the E'town player who caught the Hail Mary) in front of two Caldwell defenders.

Why:

- Are two guys behind him?

- Why do you not, at all times, have at least one guy in front of E'town's main receiving threat?

Hail Mary, yes. But caught by a good receiver and thrown by a QB that's been on fire all year.

And defense could have been better based on the photo(s) and video.

Nathaniel, Caldwell's #1 was in front of Payne, but an ill timed jump missed deflecting the ball away.

He ended up there, but he (or another player) should have been there the entire time.

Plus, Caldwell could have had more players in the end zone (unless they really thought E'town would throw short and then try to run it/lateral it in).

Hail Mary was about E'town's ONLY option there and obviously CC didn't defend it great.

Payne was NOT wide open, per se, but he wasn't draped by four defenders and catching a tipped ball, either. He had SOME space (and "any" space in this instance is an issue).

Not that it makes that much of a difference, but:

- 37 yards is a good pass, but Wilson can throw longer

- Had it been batted down, E'town still would have had one more shot (might have had another anyway had CC committed pass interference. NOT saying it happened here, but I've seen it happen before when a team gets a P.I. call on what should have been the last play of the game).

Etown had to throw to endzone since Caldwell clock operators were running as much time off each play as possible. 3 times in final minute referee made them put time back on.

Talk about your home cookin.
