The only game that I know they got in was a 3-1 loss to KY Baseball Club.

Don't know who pitched. They were supposed to play after us Friday evening but got canceled. Talking to the Midland coaches Saturday and I understand they were supposed to play the Colonels Saturday afternoon.

Just heard from a friend that they lost their first game to Ky Baseball Club 3-1 with Elliott going the distance. Then they beat Rawlings Nationals 14-8, Nichols started but was relieved by Shanks who went 5 1/3 scoreless innings to get the win, Neumann also hit a Grand Slam in this game. They then lost to the Indiana Bulls 10-0 in 5 with Mutsch going 3 and Bleser the final inning, and Sunday they beat the Ohio Yankees 8-2 with Wigger going 3 Curley 2 and Bleser 2. Curley was 3-4 with a Triple, Double, and Single just missing the cycle.

The tryouts for Kentucky Colonels 18 and under select team will be August 5-6 at St. Henry High School. 10 A.M on August 5 and noon on August 6 I believe you have to contact either Walt Terrell or Dennis Tarney.

I agree, his players have a lot of fun playing for him, and its fun to watch as well.
Yes they do and at tryouts this comeing week,(8/5), they had better have a good joke if Walt asks for one!! Walt is famous for someone telling a joke before the start of practice or games. I couldnt repeat any of them here, but Walts a hoot!!

Does anyone know who made the Colonels team? Also do you have to be a senior to be to try out and/or make the team?

No you dont have to be a Sr. I also heard that Maile from CCH, and Faris from Boone tried out... if so, that whould be a awseome catching tandom.

KLye Kramer from Brossat made the team.....catcher... I do know this as fact.

I thought Farris was going to Midland, and was going to play OF.

that is true on Farris....Maybe he was just keeping his options open incase something happens with that situation.

Yeah, Maile is an awefully talented athlete. Was there any others from CCH that tried out and if so who?

Farris didn't try out....Isler, Holocher, Darner, Maile and Nutini all made the team..all sophs...

Now let me get this straight. Five - "5 CCH Soph" tried out and five made a team that is mostly made up of the best Juniors or Seniors in NKY. Oh my that says a lot about CCH's program or better yet the feeder team that these kids played on before they went to CCH. Ooooorrrrr that the Juniors and Seniors that tried out for the Colonels aren't quite the cream of the crop as they normally are. I've heard about Maile, Isler, and the Nutuni kid, but what about the other two. Darner and Holoch? How did they do last season on CCH's freshman team? As I recall the CCH's freshman team was a little better than average. What's the scope? Anyone with any inside info?

All I can tell you is that Darner and Holocher played JV with several other frosh (Hartmann, Shover, Sainola, Isler, Nutini, Maile, VanSant, Darner)...Isler and Maile ended up playing all varsity. JV went 20 and 3...they lost to Scott in the regional against another summer teammate frosh Murray. Shover, VanSant and Sainola didn't tryout for the summer Colonels: Shover is focusing on basketball; VanSant is starting varsity football; and Sainola just didn't tryout for some reason. Hartmann and Murray didn't make it...Murray is as good as those who did I think...Nutini was clocked at 84...Sainola throws harder than he does, but is not as athletic and can't hit with the others...but look for those two to be there next year as juniors. Hartmann is an above average outfielder, great speed, lead off hitter, steals with ease...he is a very good player. Just not quite at the level of some of the others yet. This group, along with Pabst from NewCath played against national caliber talent every day in the summer...they did more than hold their own...;; I'd take their summer team any day, vs any age group...I guess we'll see how they develop from here?
