Rumors aren't evidence or proof. If you have evidence of impropriety please report it, I would hate for the school I love and am proud of to be doing illicit things for a win. If it happened I want those involved punished, otherwise you are just throwing things out there to see what sticks.

 

As a Catholic I cannot begin to understand the elitist, sorry "exclusive" attitude being perpetuated here. All are to be welcome not just those who score at a certain level. Drop the religious pretense and become the Germantown branch of KCD or Collegiate if that is your aim.

 

I'm pretty sure that's why east stated a get together was needed to discuss some of the rumors being said so everything could be cleared up, not having a discussion on the message board.

 

T hangs their hat on their Special Education services, while X doesn't offer a specific special education program, they do have different levels for varied educational needs. Everyone who goes to X is not in all AP or Honor classes so there are some students who are not the top tier student and need different educational needs.

 

There has to be cut off somewhere and for some reason whether it's based off of the entrance exam or a class size, some students are going to be left out, that's just the way it goes. For the students that need special education services would not go to X because you know that X does not provide the needed services to help the student be the most successful. Not really sure how that comes off as elitist, but I guess just a way for the pot to call the kettle black.

 

Maybe things will change at X and they will hire a special education director to start allowing students who are in need to additional support to attend, but until that time X has to have some type of cutoff system and entrance exam score plays a part in that system.

the reason for Trinity giving 2.7 million in financial aid comes from the Archdiocese. St. Xavier is fully funded and receive no aid from other agencies. St. X alumni is their only source of aid. that is why we give 1.7 million vs the 2.7 million

 

Where did you hear Trinity gets money from the Archdiocese? Trinity's aid is also fully funded by alumni donations. The Archdiocese is having trouble funding its own programs so it certainly is not going to throw money to Trinity.

 

Many decades ago at Trinity's founding, the Archdiocese admitted the small plot of land provided to Trinity was not really adequate for a high school. The Archbishop promised Trinity's founding principal that if Trinity were to ever outgrow the small plot of land provided to start the school on, Trinity could have a larger plot of land nearby. Time went by, Trinity flourished and needed more space. By then, that land was no longer available (don't recall why) so Trinity had to start buying surrounding businesses starting with the Courtesy Caddilac dealership property and later with the businesses along Sherrin Avenue. Buying surrounding businesses is an extremely expensive way to grow and the Archdiocese acknowledged this and agreed it didn't keep its end of the promise so for a period of 5 or more years, the Archdiocese did provide some assistance to Trinity to keep its end of the promise to some degree. This ended about 8 years ago and the money was never for financial aid, it was for expansion. Also, as the last I have heard, Trinity gets no money from the Archdiocese of Louisville Catholic Education Foundation but Trinity alumni are well represented on it donor list.

And with regard to forcing a legend out, most of my Trinity friends who played for Coach Lampley and are loyal to him, are appalled at the way he was unceremoniously canned as AD because Beatty didn't want him around. I won't even get into Coach Tompkins.

Like what rumors? It is no secret Iscaacs supports the football and power lifting programs through investment he put in the weight room. Much of the new equipment was on his dime. What are you implying?

I don't really get up in arms over were/if St. X chooses to do an academic cut-off. However, the insinuations that 'lower standards' is the reason why Trinity has excelled at football is very insulting and causes many to criticize St. X for 'elitism' in return. I knew people in the less demanding programs (including a cousin of mine) and I knew football players. None of the star players, and few (if any) starters were in the same program as my cousin.

 

That and the clear misinformation (such as statement that the archdiocese funds Trinity financial aid) have caused many to respond 'defensively'.

From an actual football standpoint I wish the passing game would improve. I'm not looking for 300 yards, just close to 60% completion and limited TOs.

Feel free. I am trying to understand why you brought up coaches being fired in the first place and what it had to do with the conversation. I just played along for fun.

Guys I didn't bash Trinity one bit. Come on I said a civil conversation because St X and Trinity only truly know their program. You don't think it would be cool to see what the other school has to say to clear up misinformation!

Agree. On the hs level, even a decent passing game is such a viable weapon. Let's be honest, even the best hs db's are only so so at pass coverage. It isn't till college that they really get it which makes a passing game so much more affective. Even Trinity's best defenses could be scored upon with effective passing.

Let's all be honest, Trinity made a conscious decision to change the direction of its football and basketball programs in the last 10 years or so. This has changed the culture of the program and the way it is viewed in the community. Trinity was highly successful prior to making this decision and the program was admired beyond its won loss record. Most of the people I associate with from Trinity, granted they are 40-50 years old, aren't necessarily proud of it, they still rib me about beating X but even they admit that they don't recognize the program. It has nothing to do with exclusion or inclusion, learning differences or placement exam scores, it has to do with winning football games and appeasing a coach. St. X could do the exact same thing but has decided not to.

Back to football, I do agree that St. X hasn't been as physical up front as they are traditionally. I do believe abandoning the zone blocking scheme will help and i would love to see us utilize a TE more. I really think, ironically enough, the lack of an explosive rb has hurt the offense more than anything the last few years.

Maybe not but you certainly brought up two whoppers of bad rumors. One with no substantiation (Isaacs role) and one just simply false (Trinity's large amount of financial aid simply due to money from the Archdiocese).
