  1. Honest questions? What is the percentage of non-catholics in the Trinity student body? What is the percentage of non-catholics on the football team?
  2. I've seen some good ones. This may be the best.
  3. Man of logic, a question for you? Did this altruistic mission at Trinity change when Beatty was hired or is that just a coincidence?
  4. Some of us do remember when Trinity was a Catholic school on Shelbyville Rd.
  5. I stand by my remarks, anything that pops in your head is your issue and may reflect your own biases.
  6. Back to football, I do agree that St. X hasn't been as physical up front as they are traditionally. I do believe abandoning the zone blocking scheme will help and i would love to see us utilize a TE more. I really think, ironically enough, the lack of an explosive rb has hurt the offense more than anything the last few years.
  7. Let's all be honest, Trinity made a conscious decision to change the direction of its football and basketball programs in the last 10 years or so. This has changed the culture of the program and the way it is viewed in the community. Trinity was highly successful prior to making this decision and the program was admired beyond its won loss record. Most of the people I associate with from Trinity, granted they are 40-50 years old, aren't necessarily proud of it, they still rib me about beating X but even they admit that they don't recognize the program. It has nothing to do with exclusion or inclusion, learning differences or placement exam scores, it has to do with winning football games and appeasing a coach. St. X could do the exact same thing but has decided not to.
  8. I guess the morale superiority at Trinity began when Beatty came aboard. Never heard any of this at Trinity the prior 30 years. I don't understand why you are all so defensive, you've gone a different direction, embrace it, you win a lot of games. And with regard to forcing a legend out, most of my Trinity friends who played for Coach Lampley and are loyal to him, are appalled at the way he was unceremoniously canned as AD because Beatty didn't want him around. I won't even get into Coach Tompkins. These comments have definitely convinced me I chose the correct screen name
  9. Would not be said in that way, obviously, but I thought it was a known fact that Trinity was the place for kids with learning differences right now. No shame in that on either side in my opinion. I do see the narrative you're trying to create though. I won't run from the fact that St. X is academically exclusive, plays by the rules in terms of tuition assistance and will probably beat Trinity only occasionally. I'm also saying I don't want to lower our standards over a football game and while it's frustrating on nights like last Friday I get over it quick.
  10. If you can succeed academically and pay the tuition within the guidelines of the khsaa rules there are no limits, besides class size. Does Trinity not have those same limitations?
  11. I don't know that I have seen a significant change in performance on the field in Mike's years and Will's first 3. Definitely a different offensive philosophy, which in my opinion, was needed and is still a work in progress. Mike's veer would steamroll inferior opponents but was almost non-existent against better teams his last few years. Remember also, St. X hasn't had many powerhouse teams over the last 30 years. The admission standards and administrative philosophy dictate much of that. As an X grad, I'm good with that. I do not want to be a win at all cost football factory and am realistic enough to understand the dynamics at work. There have been many kids that wanted to come to X and would have made a huge difference on the field but academically would not have made it or financially couldn't afford it. That's not our mission as a school. Not elitist, just reality. If Perry and the board want to open the spigots, look out, but that's not happening. Additionally, to add a little context on the last few years- the '13 team suffered several injuries at rb (Walker, Purcell, and Davis) that hurt them tremendously and was still 1 play away from beating a Male team that lost in the state finals. The '14 team handled Trinity easily in the regular season but was also missing their top 3 rb's in the playoff rematch and still very easily could have won that game, which for all intents and purposes was the state final. The '15 team was young but prospects look good for next year. Not making excuses and definitely disappointing but not quite as bad as some in this thread would lead you to believe. For most of Mike's career their was one other threat and it was a Trinity that doesn't resemble the recent ones and they would meet in the Semifinals or finals. The recent emergence of Male, along with the playoff pairings of the louisville districts, has eliminated a probable state finalist by week 2 or 3. Still have to win the game but losing a state final doesn't look quite as bad as losing in the 2nd round to the eventual champ. One pet peeve, I would love to see X go back to some of the small things that Mike did- black shoes, same socks, no wristbands or sleeves, helmets on on the sidelines and standing. That and I would like for Will and Mike to work together to unify the fanbase, I don't think their tiff or their constituents arguing does much for the kids or school. I guess I'm showing my age now. Just my opinion, Go Tigers!
