November 15, 201510 yr It looked to me that the punt returner had clearly muffed the ball (it had fallen below his hands) when Quick hit him. The refs probably felt that he had a chance to catch it, but failed to do so. On the onside kick, I still don't know exactly what the call was.

Also the late game INT... was... according to radio. They counted 3 steps after the INT. ACC replay officials are a treat.
November 15, 201510 yr Quick hit - thought it was close, but not a clear blown call. There is no "halo" rule any more. It's a judgment call and that's the way they saw it. Huge momentum shift in the game, no doubt. Onsides kick - still haven't heard a good explanation of the call, so no idea if there is some obscure rule they violated. Ref right by the K threw it immediately, so it was obvious he was watching something and as soon as the K made contact, he threw the flag. Not sure if it was players beyond the 5 yd. rule, # of players on each side of the K or something else, but he seemed pretty confident of the call and the crew backed him up. Will look forward to an explanation. INT - right call was made and then "conclusive evidence" was used to turn the right call into the wrong call. That said, it actually helped UofL. Gave them a longer field to use more clock before they scored. You could actually argue it would have been better for Radcliffe to kneel at the 1 yd. line rather than scoring. 3 plays and then scoring would have burned clock & UVa timeouts. That said, can't blame a kid for scoring by running hard. Bolin - he had his share of troubles handling the rush today. He made some nice calls and some nice throws, but his ball security has to be better. It's not like he should be surprised by pressure playing behind that line. Sacks are OK. Turnovers are not. QBs - wondered when they were going to let Bonnafon throw the ball from the RB position. Picked a great time. I also would like to see a bit more "change of pace" from Jackson and Bonnafon. Give the DL something to think about beyond just pinning the ears back and rushing. Make them chase a QB for a few plays. That said, even on the important long run Jackson had, he looked kinda gimpy when he went OB. May not be fully healthy. They make the games closer than fans would like, but they have been on the right side and played the 4 losses very well against 3 very good teams & 1 team that was supposed to be very good at the time. No blowouts either way. They are the Card-iac kids.
November 15, 201510 yr One thing to really look at with UL is that they have losses to Clemson and Houston both undefeated and Fla State. The loss to Auburn is the only "bad loss" so to speak. When they lost to Houston at lot of people, including me, thought man I cannot believe they cannot even beat Houston! The game against Pitt. is really an interesting game. Pitt is pretty decent and being at home could make this game very tough on the Cards. Pitt. is very underrated having only lost three games (Iowa by 3 and close games with Notre Dame and North Carolina).

A player cannot stand more than five yards behind the line from which the ball is being kicked at any time after the ball is made ready for play. Well... Guy at the top of the screen is a full yard behind everyone else and so six yards off the line of the ball. Ref blew the whistle on the ready... illegal formation.

Thanks for the explanation. Figured it was something like that. Odd that it is not a dead ball since it "cannot be cured" like 2 guys in motion not resetting before the snap. Guess it is an additional advantage to the receiving team since UofL could have declined the penalty if they had recovered it.

You mean an announcer bad enough to be stuck calling a Louisville UVa game didn't know the rules? And a UK fan took their word as gospel? Color me shocked
