Starbuck's Special Edition Christmas Cups

Featured Replies

I have not read much about this story, but here's what I've gathered. Please correct me if I am wrong.

As a promotion, Starbuck's is/will be offering a "Christmas Coffee Cup." The cup has no mention of Christmas, and is just a plain red design all the way around. Some Christians/Christian group have attacked Starbuck's saying they are "anti-Christmas" and that we should boycott them since they are taking the Christ out of Christmas.

My opinion? Call the promotion "Happy Holiday Cups" or make it a "Happy holidays" promotion. Everybody wins.

Ummm...that's exactly what Starbucks has always done. I worked for them for 7 years. We had holiday cups, holiday drink choices, Christmas Blend coffee and Holiday Blend....same coffe, different packaging.

Then how is this a story?

I'm not saying you are wrong by any means. What I mean is did somebody associate "Merry Christmas" with Starbucks when they have been saying "Happy Holidays" the whole time?

I have no idea. Been asking myself that very question for days. But, just like the many misconceptions about SBUX, people latch on and become like a dog with a bone. What I have learned is that it's like the misconceptions of Kentucky's private schools and athletics....you can provide a mountain of evidence that disproves the outrage du jour, and it won't change a thing.

SBUX will weather this one just fine.

I have never bought a cup of coffee for what the cup looks like or says.

On the one hand, symbols like snaowflakes, Frosty, Christmas trees etc take away from "the real meaning of Christmas."

Then, in true "Christian" fashion, people get bent out of shape when those symbols are left out? Crazy hypocrisy.

If anyone is truly upset about this, their priorities are way out of whack.

You know, honestly I haven't seen any Christians upset about this on social media. Pretty much to a person everyone is just posting that they don't see what the big deal is. I think this is just the case of the media wanting to sensationalize this by writing articles about how Christians are offended.

I'm offended that Starbucks came out with a Christmas cup in November.

I feel like no one cares about this other than the idiot who made the dumb video

And Donald Trump. He managed to add this in his babbling on the debate last night. Said people should boycott his own Starbucks in trump towers. :ohbrother:
