Never pull a gun on an officer

Or an air gun, or fake gun, it won't end well.

 

 

The video of each officers' camera shows Sgt. Gabriel Green and patrol officer Kaylynn Griffin went into the restroom and found Bushey hiding in a stall.

 

Later in each of the videos, Bushey is escorted out of the restaurant where Green attempts to control Bushey. Griffin has her Taser gun ready to fire at Bushey when she sees a gun in his hand.

 

She screams “Gun! Gun! Gun!” as Green lets go of Bushey and pulls his weapon to begin firing at the suspect. Green fires eight to nine rounds, while Griffin puts her Taser away, pulls her handgun, and fires three to four shots at Bushey.

 

Officers learned later the gun Bushey pointed at them was an air gun made to look like a Colt 1911 .45 caliber handgun.

I'm sure that his only intention was to just get away, but why not just run? Plus, he was suspected of stealing a case of beer, hardly a serious crime, just accept that you messed up and got caught, no big deal.

Here's a case where the video completely confirms the officers reacted correctly. I know a lot of the videos that make the news tend to lead to criticism, so it's worth pointing out.

Just how stupid was this guy? I don't think he had "suicide by cop" mentality, simply because I think he was surprised by being arrested and had no idea the situation he found himself in was going down the way it did. I think he just made a really really stupid decision.

 

And secondly, why didn't they frisk they guy and put him in cuffs before walking him out? I mean they were arresting him for theft. I found that somewhat odd, but then again I'm not a law enforcement officer. Can anyone give some insight to this? @Guru?
