Pereira said they did use replay for the penalty but should not have. Also said the penalty at the 15 was missed and that the runner was down.

ACC refs are gonna have some trouble after this week.

You'd think after 9 minutes whoever the replay official was could have seen that the knee was down. You'd think the player with no helmet that runs at least 10 yards down the field out past the numbers before the runner crosses the goal line would have been seen by at least one official.

I'd think it would be illegal participation or 12 men on the field...he was out there on the field, running during the play.

Play was too awesome to be called back.

You are correct.

The whole review process is not equal across all games and all conferences as many of the lesser games do not have the same camera views to use in a review. Personally I thought the Duke QB was stopped short of the goal line and after reviewed they said the play stood as called but didn't say confirmed. A different angle would have shown the truth. I think the same thing happened on the knee being down. They didn't have a good enough view to overturn that. It looked like there was a shadow which left doubt. As for review on a penalty when did they start allowing that? It was a good block but if a flag was thrown can you overturn that???? Crazy finish!

Taped the game but didn't set an extension so it cut off with UM up 24-19 with Duke driving. Was impressed with how UM's played strong when the offense was sputtering. Rosier throws a nice, tight, receiver friendly deep ball.

 

What was the total time for that last play? Had to be twice as long as the Stanford/Cal finish. I know the kid was down and there were some blocks in the back but check out the block at the top of the screen once they finally broke that play loose.

Duke got absolutely hosed. Nothing less than overturning the result of the game would be acceptable at this point. It does appear though that Duke is taking to this to the very highest levels of the ACC for some answers/results from what I've read. I'll be interested to see what comes out tomorrow from all of this.

This is a rare case when I could actually see them changing the result after the game is concluded. There may be rules against it, but they should be changed.

 

Egregious missed calls AND if any of them is called correctly, the game is over and the result is changed. Time was definitely off the clock in any circumstance. Other than the guy with the helmet off running on the field, any of the blocks in the back OR the knee down end the game in Duke's favor. Pretty conclusive evidence on each of them, so I could see result being overturned.

 

Also, not to be cynical, but it is in ACC's interest to get Duke a win. Miami going nowhere. Duke v. UNC ranked matchup. Winner creating much more attractive Championship Game matchup in Charlotte.
