it was blatantly disrespectful . And I am "almost" positive of what their intentions were !!! If not aware someone needs to teach Marksberry a thing or two about respect!! How can a coach not be aware of his actions at that moment??

 

Football like most sports is a game of routine. Why change your warmup because of another teams senior night? This is varsity high school football not peewee

 

I was told the same that there was still a lot of time (i.e. over 10 minutes before kickoff).

 

If so then I'm not sure why SK felt the need to be loud. Yeah, I get it. You want to get your team ready but every coach wants that yet they all figure out a way to let the opponent's seniors and their family members have a few moments to be recognized.

 

This is very simple. What would you want the other team to do were the shoe on the other foot? I know I would want the visiting team to get its warm-ups in as unobtrusively as possible. Therefore, if I were the visiting team during a senior night I would have my team warm-up as far down on the end of the field as possible, and not counting out loud and proud.

 

Boone's senior night was this week. Highlands did their warm up on one end of the field and the senior football players, cheerleaders, and band members were escorted in by their parents on the track walking from the other end of the field. There was no issue with Highlands being obtrusive as far as I know. Boone had their senior night and Highlands team got warmed up. In fact, they were so warm they scored on the first offensive possession, if I remember right.

Last week SK had Senior night Ryle warmed up nobody complained.

No matter what sport, teams are always given time to warmup. Scott had to warmup as well.

 

Not sure how much time is given in football, as I've never gotten to a game to see the time put on the clock to start warmups.

 

Using basketball as a guideline, I've noticed that both teams are given 20 minutes to warmup after SR night activities, no matter when they start.

Exhibition season is over. 1-0 now each week is all that matters.

Good lord. That's even worse if true. No way a grown man is going to intentionally interrupt Senior Night because of some tweets from high school kids.

 

I would hope not. I would also bet the disrespect was a two way street given the exposure I've had to Twitter.

What communication did scott have with SK about pregame. If SK doesnt know their plans no reason they wouldnt do things as normal. Regardless SK is undefeated and looking to make a playoff run.

What I'm hearing is the warming up wasn't as big of a problem as was the shouting from the players during warmups during the ceremony. If the SK players were shouting out their countdowns etc then that is bush league.

Who said that?? While there might be a few Scott faithful who think that, I think most are well aware Scott is in the pecking order.

You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. I hepled out with SK senior night last week and was told directly from Jeff Markesberry to have our players stop at the 50 yard line because Ryle was warming up. We also lined up down the numbers, not in the middle of the field.

Rumor has it Simon Kenton's coaching staff tried to talk the Scott gate workers to charge more to Scott fans to get in the game as well.

I'm an outsider who was not at the game Friday. I have not had a conversation with Jeff Markesberry since his Hanover days. There are a couple of things that are true.

 

Markesberry showed compassion and respect against Boone County. Their coaches were dealing with some heavy off the field issues, SK could of named the score that night, Jeff pumped the brakes out of respect.

 

The other truth is SK is now a relevant football school, borderline powerhouse. This is a first in my lifetime. This would be a non factor 25 years ago, but there weren't message boards to complain on either.

Some people will make up reasons to be upset. Your team got beat. Get over it. Time for the playoffs. You've had a good season, stop trying to distract the players, administration and community. Move on.
