Agree...Wolfe is unique because his former AD took the Male AD job and that's his boy. Plus he has always coached in Lville and they tend to keep to their own, but I know what ya mean.

When I played a long time ago when there were 4 classes of football. I played against two of the three Bullitt schools. NB always had comparable kids to south Louisville. BE had a different type of kid, tons of parent support, fans galore at games and facilities much better than NB's. Easy to tell they were given the nod by the county officials. Plus I think all of the BOE members live in Mt. Washington and their kids all go to BE.... not a coincidence IMO.

 

BE would be a great job to get outside of the no middle school football.

 

Those facilities were nice in 1986 and Bullitt East had 700 kids and was 2A. Same locker room for a 5A school with over 1400 kids now. At North they were in the process of taking half their locker room away to create bathrooms.

 

Latest renovation to all 3 high schools took away practice fields at each. I heard at East they built new tennis courts on practice field and they now have less than half a field. North was practicing on baseball outfield or soccer field and Central was practicing on a patch of grass in front of school next to HWY 44. And again, no middle school football.

 

As for school board, the county is divided into districts and there are 5 board members to represent each district. Only 1 district in Mt. Washington, so only 1 Mt. Washington board member. And if anything, Central gets the preferential treatment from the Board.

I wouldn't call it hot seat, but it wouldn't surprise me to see at least 1 Bullitt County job come open.

 

Someone on here already mentioned grumblings at East. I'd be surprised if they fired/asked HC to resign, he's an Egan guy and they love them at East.

 

At Central, the AD and Principal that wanted to bring in Lawson are both already gone. Wouldn't surprise me to see him go to JCPS.

 

Same situation at North, Principal buddies with Billings and he leaves a couple weeks into school.

 

So it wouldn't surprise me if any of those came open.

Why no middle school football. Administration doesn't allow or just nobody to do it?

Theres a youth league, but they only play other Bullitt county teams so competition and talent is very watered down. Each HS has about 3 feeder teams essentially corresponding with each elementary school (LJ, Roby, Cedar Grove, etc). But by the time they are A team there were only about 15 kids a team, at least the last time I went to a game.

 

Not sure why they dont have middle school football, I hear they have middle school baseball now. Im just surprised coaches in the county havent advocated for it more. I think you see some of the best programs in the state have a strong middle school system, get them to run their scheme, use their terminology. Can only help.

Have you specifically heard anything on Billings at North? Or do you just think he would leave b/c a guy he went to school with is no longer the principal? Where would he go? Huge turnaround in year 1, hear nothing but good things, don't think he and the principals were big pals before the hire anyway.

I've not heard anything at all. Someone made comment about East and I was just speculating. I was under the impression he and principal were St. X buddies, and heard he's driving from Southern Indiana everyday. With principal gone I just thought it would not be surprising. There are conditions at all 3 Bullitt schools where I could see a change, don't know how likely any of them are though.

 

They've definitely had an outstanding season and exceeded expectations,

I can see East having an opening for sure. Between the off field issues with players and the lack of discipline on the team at East, I can see the whole staff being let go/asked to step down. The coaching staff has basically stripped the upper class of any authority. When a Senior has an issue and the staff wont even open the door to hear it there is a problem. The lack of creativity with the offense over the past few seasons is wearing thin. The 3-7 record this year with talent that is better than the record shows is a direct reflect of coaching ability. Players are just not excited to run the Veer offense. The facility's at East are below avg, The practice field is a goat ranch and has needed upgraded for many many seasons now. There is more injuries to ankles and knees at practice from the field than the actual playing of the game. However rumor has it that East is in the process of getting a new practice facility arranged since the tennis courts took half the practice area. I agree the community support will rival just about anywhere in KY. It should be a good job to get as the school is growing rapidly in population which in turn should grow the programs numbers.

Most football contracts don't mention being competitive...just FYI. Special ED is now apart of the GAP and the most highly litigated area...not an "easy" job by any stretch anymore since that is the emphasis in most districts now and most PE jobs are held by tenured teachers and former coaches so that's out. Most college coaches start as GA's and rarely as HS head coaches. With that said, the biggest issue is expectation vs reality vs resources. IMO.

 

I would also challenge any poster to prove that "most" head coaches teach in PE/SE now. I think that probably is an assumption that may not be supported by fact.

I would say that, for better or worse, the label exists for most coaches who are teachers. I don't buy into it... In fact, in my life, some of my best teachers were coaches.

 

I agree with you that you have people in all sorts of positions, but if it is a coach, it is a problem for some reason. Of course, this usually comes from people who beat the buses out of the parking lot in the afternoons.

Being a good teacher is not necessarily an indication that you will be a good coach.

 

But in my experience the best coaches I've had have also been outstanding teachers. And I don't think that is a coincidence.
