I think Drey has surprised everyone with his speed. The further he gets downfield the further he separates from the DBs. Landon is Mr versatility. There are several places he could excell at. He even played back up QB on the 2012 freshman team. Sammy is greatly missed but Drew (when fired up) has filled in nicely at times.

We will find out what Raceland is made of in this one. Earlier in the year I would have picked Raceland to win this one. Unfortunately I'm not so sure that they haven't lost focus and given up. IMO, this one will either be a close one with either team winning, or it will a 3+ Russell win. Raceland seems to be a Jekyle and Hyde team this year.

I agree with you 100%. This week will tell a lot about Raceland and IF these kids want to play or not. Since this rivalry was renewed 8 years ago, it has been dominated by the Rams, 5 game to 1 with Russell refusing to renew the series. After 5 consecutive Raceland wins the then Russell coaches / admnstration decided that they waned no more of it, they may explain it different but it was fairly obvious. Russell coach T.J. Maynard (left Raceland to Russell) agreed and the rivaly is renewed ....Much quicker than the 30 years plus or so that it took before.

This one is one of those family vs. family rivalries ....one example of many just like it is myself and both sisters all married Russell alums, I have no children but one sister's kids attended Russell, the others started at Russell, transferred to Raceland at either jr. high or early h.s. years. Churches in our communities are full of fans, kids and players of both schools. One hilarious example is that in our church service one year, the pastor decided to have players from both teams stand up, Raceland's players first and when recognized, the fans / parents of the Russell kids started "booing". Of course, that was reversed when the Russell players stood.....When you're booed in church ??? :lol2: Of course it was all in good fun.

This team had a learning curve at several positions along with the cosching staff figuring things out as well. That, is where our problems were in the first half of the season. The back forty of the schedule presented us with what we have seen, a lack of desire.
