October 23, 201511 yr You expect Louisville fans to jump ship and throw their school under the bus because of a few rough patches and then try to bash them when they don't. Do you do the same for tough stretches for your team, or is it only when it happens with your rivals? My "location" has been the same for years. Not that you deserve any sort of explanation, but that phrase was on a billboard on UL's campus when I was there, and that's where it came from. Not sure how I'm trying to state that as fact, as you said. Even if I was, who are you to say it isn't? :lol2: How is your opinion any more valid than mine? As for the arrogance, I already said it wasn't all inclusive of everything/everyone, but you apparently only read what you want to read. Shocker there, really. I wouldn't expect you to jump ship because of the embarrassing situation Louisville seems to be embracing. I would, however, expect you to be able to call a spade a spade, and acknowledge that the program you follow is a becoming a laughing stock before our eyes. Louisville fans are somehow trying to band together and #standforLouisville . Great, you stand for breaking the rules and prositution. On the meaningless location thing that you took way to seriously...it is a highly objectionable statement that is worded as a declarative statement. If you are, in fact declaring that Louisville is the greatest sports town in the world, then you declaration is wrong because there is nothing to support your claim. Not that it matters. Also, I read what is relevant, not the sensationalized garb that is oh so common in today's dialogue.

So you're not telling people to jump ship, but you're mocking them for banding together in overall support for the university. Got it. I've listened to way more Louisville sports radio over the past couple weeks than I'm sure you have, and the fans aren't as tolerant as you apparently think they are. EVERY fan I've talked to is ticked off that this is going on. Every single one. Banding together during tough times doesn't mean we support everything that goes on at the school. But abandoning the university during tough times would show a lot about the character of a fan base.
October 23, 201511 yr :lol2: I think this thread is a great example of what many of us have said in the thread on the Premium forum. It's just absurd. :lol2:
October 23, 201511 yr You're right about at least one thing, and that is that the thought of listening to a Louisville sports radio show has not even crossed my mind in the slightest. However, I have frequented the card chronicle on occasions to watch the firestorm go down in the comment sections of the article. Simply magical. I agree that most of the people are upset, but I cant gauge the level of sincerity. In my humble opinion, the only way Louisville gets past this black eye is that if it acts in a definitive manner and makes it known that the alleged behavior will not be tolerated. It has to begin the process of saving face and restoring its imagine. Whether right or wrong, Petino and to a lesser extent Jurich, will have this hanging over their heads for quite some time. Until I see reactions fro within the Louisville fan base that realize it is in the best interest of the PROGRAM to remove these two, i have a hard time accepting the sincerity of their angst. This is my opinion, as an outsider to the situation. I am not saying it is right or wrong. This is not me expressing my disdain for Louisville.

I have heard dozens of people say that removing Pitino is the right thing to do at this point. Literally every show I've listened to over the past couple weeks has had several callers say as much. At the beginning of this, I didn't think Pitino should go. While I'm still not sold in either direction, I would not be opposed to Pitino leaving (either voluntarily or involuntarily) if that is what's best for Louisville.

October 23, 201511 yr I don't see any way in the world how someone could trademark the state name Kentucky. I could see it being trademarked with a certain script in a specific design, but the name itself? Absurd. I mean, what's there to stop then someone trademarking the name "beer", or "wine" and not allowing it to be used without them getting paid or without their permission? Where does it stop?
October 26, 201511 yr I'm fine with them copyrighting a particular font or logo. No way should they have the rights to the word Kentucky on a tshirt. Theoretically now Churchill Downs can't print Kentucky Derby shirts. -Insane.
October 26, 201511 yr What about Kentucky Fried Chicken? I could see if a shirt was blue and white and said Kentucky, Kentucky Football, Kentucky Basketball they would/could have a claim. But in this case where there looks to be no intended attachment to the University by the bottler I don't think they have a case.
October 27, 201511 yr Author I notice plantman being a little quiet on this.... Hopefully that UK attorney will not show-up somewhere unexpected this weekend....eh?
October 28, 201510 yr This is very UK of UK. Doesn't surprise me at all. Just wait until UL trademarks the name "sex party."
April 11, 201610 yr Saw an update this in the NYT this weekend. (Legal) Moonshiner and University Battle Over Rights to ‘Kentucky’
