USC Coach Steve Sarkisian too "sick" to coach

Featured Replies

USC AD Pat Haden has reportedly ask Steve Sarkisian to take an immediate leave of absence, saying that he is too sick to coach.

One report is that he showed up drunk to a meeting on Sunday according to at least one player.

He has an alcohol problem. Clay Helton will serve as interim Head Coach. Sark is probably done at USC.

And I'm sure his divorce or pending divorce is helping to toss more fuel on the fire.

5-star LB Daelin Hayes has de-committed.

I actually feel sorry for Sarkisian. He obviously has a real problem to be throwing away an opportunity like he has at USC (not to mention his marriage). I am not a USC fan but this is a sad situation.

This is part of the problem with the alcohol.

Haden imo needs to end it (coaching relationship) now. USC's season is already been derailed and by the fault of their head coach and x's and o's have nothing to do with it. That's why I say just let Sarkisian go now. He has no business coaching college kids (and yes, they're still kids) or representing USC in any form or fashion.

Sarkasian obviously has a sickness / disease that won't be cured by just a "leave of absence". Hope that the man can get his life straightened out but he obviously can no longer coach USC. Hire an interim that the players can trust and open up accepting resume's for 2016. that to me anyway is about all that can be done at this point. JMO

So Chip Kelly is the obvious answer to the question of "who coaches the Trojans next season", right?

Alcoholism is a serious sickness. Hopefully he can admit his problem and find professional help.

I would think at some point, the USC Admin needs to take a look at Haden as well, the L. Kiffin mistake, now hires an alcoholic. Doesn't look to well on him at all.

From what several people at Washington said, including some players was that Sarkisian had trouble with drinking when there. I have to wonder if Haden even did a background check, especially at Washington being his previous position

Lots of reports coming out about him being drunk on a team flight, during a morning meeting, saying crazy gibberish on the field before the last game.

Guy has a serious issue.

Scout's #1 TE has cancelled an OV to USC and will now take one to Bama instead.

If he is a diagnosed as an alcoholic , can they just fire him? Wouldn't he be protected under FMLA or is his position not covered ?
