You know very little to be such a big fan. First, HC preforms as a TEAM. That is what will make them successful. Secondly, there are a few returning players on that team that spent their entire summer putting in work, with the exception of one or two ... HA! I think the whole region is in for a surprise.... EVEN YOU! I would definitely put them in the TOP 5 of the region! There are people on here that have seen their talent and what they are capable of without the bigs but don't speak, and YES they are ALL RETURNING PLAYERS... If you are a true fan of HC and you don't believe, you should sit this season out!

I do defend the Birds for sure. But I am also open and honest about all the teams. I just like to talk basketball and I don't sugarcoat it to anyone. There are strengths and weaknesses of every team. If you look back to many posts over the years, I give plenty of "feedback" to my own team when they don't play well. In fact at one point, I got scolded for telling too many secrets when providing feedback about my own team! So I've pulled back on that a little! :ylsuper: Look at other threads for other teams this year, I've already said it would do Holmes well to have a better half court set. And a Holmes fan agreed, rather than getting mad. I said that I'm not sure what to expect out of ND. It will be interesting watching them progress. Just because I don't agree with a few adults and few practices on here doesn't mean I'm an HC hater. I'm honest with everyone and some can take it and some get offended. It's all good. Kids don't always need to hear about sunshine, rainbows and unicorns!

I can't remember a time when a reigning state champ had as tough of a route to get out of the district as Holy Cross will have this year. The most talented team in the region is Holmes (with Highlands being a close 2nd) and NDA is going to be back to form with Jenna Martin at the helm surrounded by a great cast of basketball players. We will see if McClendon can power the Indians back to the regional tournament, but with the loss of so much scoring on a team that already consistently had games below 35, I don't see them keeping pace with some of the stronger offensive teams in the region. I would probably have them in the 8-12 range until they can show that their offense can keep up without Turner. Could definitely be a dangerous team if they can hit a nice rhythm.

I dont disagree with any argument as to whether HC should be or shouldn't be top 5, it's safe to say they lost key parts to there run last year. That being said there defense is dangerous whether you have bigs in the game or not, any team that plays together in sync the way HC teams play can hold any team under there normal average and can create havoc. This years team will not be any different in that aspect, tucker and McClendon flat out get after it when it comes to the defensive end of the floor getting past those two to challenge the new bigs of HC will be a task in itself for teams that's why I believe they will be right in the mix of things in the end. If you look back at the state title game look who created the opportunity for HC to take that last shot with a huge steal one on one at mid court, it was McClendon. Look at the all a state championship game look who was guarding the girl that fumbled the ball out of bounds giving HC the opportunity to win that game, it was McClendon she's possibly one of the hardest players to beat on the basketball floor I would put her on top of my defensive players in the region! Tucker is the same way people try to pick on her for being a smaller varsity player but she's tough she's strong she will bang with anyone whether it's rebounds or guarding you one on one at the top of the key she gets after it. These two playing there defensive game will cause many turnover points and influence how the rest of the HC players play with that passion they will be dangerous.

So were all those bashing and negative? Or are you still only reading what you want to hear and skipping over the other stuff? Where did I call HC names??? Really??? Are you representative of HC???

 

And I know you were around last year when I was complimenting them on their run. Heck, I talked to you about it. So I'm not sure where "always" comes into play whenyou talk about my negativity. That ONLY comes into play on a few adults and one subject. Don't try to tag me as a HC hater. That's not true as a whole.

 

It's not always negative with HC. I like the school. I love some of the other coaches. I like a lot of the players, parents and alums. I root for them in other sports. I always have.

 

AND I STILL HAVE THEM IN MY TOP 5 AS WELL! So I'm not sure why you keep saying that??? LOL!

I have said nothing bad about any of the kids involved. If you can find something, please share. There's not one bball player in NKY that couldn't improve their game. Saying a kid is not perceived as a "scorer" has NOTHING to do with how good of an overall player I feel they are. In fact, I state how good I think she is. I think I used the word "outstanding" PG...with great defensive skills and bball IQ. But, AGAIN, you only read what you want. But if they do read it, hopefully they read more than you do.

Agree 100%, but will that be enough? Against teams with multiple ball handlers, those two can't be everywhere. They are very good. But playing in sync with the right pieces is different than playing in sync with a different make up. They lost 4 huge contributors. The "sync" part will take time against good opponents. There will definitely be nights where those two can take over. But scoring will always be an issue for this team this year. As one other poster said it, they weren't anywhere near a high scoring team last year and they lost 75% of their scoring to graduation. Time will tell. I don't wish anything bad on any of them, but if you're talking about HC in a bball thread for this year, this is where I would say they will struggle. Every other team in the 9th will struggle at times as well, but they don't get all bent out of shape when you mention it. (and that's not for your Panther)

Again, I don't have an issue with HC. I told you I have concerns with a couple of the adults that may have association with HC. But HC as a school and the other sports...not at all. Again, you must not read all the posts.
