Covington Holy Cross 2015-16

Featured Replies

This years Holy Cross team will be a different team from the past few years, that being said a lot of people are down playing them McClendon is in my opinion the top point guard in the 9th. She alone will carry this team to a lot of wins this year, Tucker will also pull the same weight as McClendon and win some games for this team. They might be small compared to years past but they will be quick and are well coached they will beat a lot of people they are not predicted to beat, (by a lot of people on this site.) All that being said i being a fan of this team would not put them a top the region soley because of who and what they lost but they will surprise a lot of people!

You know very little to be such a big fan. First, HC preforms as a TEAM. That is what will make them successful. Secondly, there are a few returning players on that team that spent their entire summer putting in work, with the exception of one or two ;)... HA! I think the whole region is in for a surprise.... EVEN YOU! I would definitely put them in the TOP 5 of the region! There are people on here that have seen their talent and what they are capable of without the bigs but don't speak, and YES they are ALL RETURNING PLAYERS... If you are a true fan of HC and you don't believe, you should sit this season out!

I would think that statement is true for almost every team, right?

Maybe so?! But this is the HC THREAD so I'm speaking about them and of course their RETURNING players..

It is an HC thread and I am talking about HC. You said they "put in work"... insinuating that is a why they may be better and people would be surprised, correct? My point, all teams have several kids that worked really hard all summer. Are you saying the HC kids worked harder? I guess I don't get why "putting in work" makes them any better then every other team the "put in work".

I'll leave the "RETURNING PLAYERS" comment alone.

I think HC has scorers on this years team that haven't seen much varsity minutes due to the depth of last years team, that being said shooting in a varsity game for some reason seams to be different then in a jv or lower level game. HC has a shooter who has had to sit out the last two seasons due to a broken back in Niemeyer you leave her open you might as well count the bucket. Gabbered sp? And Turner inside the paint may not be the tallest but they play physical and that's what you need out of a big in high school ball. Tucker and McClendon will get there points a lot of them will come from the foul line due to them being quick off the dribble to the basket l. This team will be better then most expect and will have other players step up and score and contribute!

Im sure you don't understand! I'm not surprised. You're only job is to bash HC... And you are a non-factor in my opinion... Don't put words on my mouth. I was referring to the comment that one or two players will "win the game". But of course I forgot, you see so well into the future you were probably thinking my next thought huh?? Like I said. This is HC thread, when I'm ready to discuss how much work your team put in, I'll come to their thread!! Ok!! Thanks!

Gabbard will have a breakout season and will be a top scorer. Btw, she didn't play JV last year so not sure what you're referring to. In any event, I still put them in top 5!

Wow! Testy huh? Well I think I've been pretty complimentary of the RETURNING players on here. I didn't see any "bashing" going on. Open and honest opinions...yes (which is what I thought this board was for). I'm sorry that you disagree with my assessment of HC and I didn't realize that only HC folks were allowed to comment on the HC thread. Something must of changed on this board. I say many things about many teams. They are my honest opinion and one thin-skinned HC fan isn't going to keep me from commenting on his beloved team.

I'll invite you over to talk about our school if you like. I'm honest with them as well. I know they have strengths and weaknesses and I have no problem with discussing either.

All my comments in this thread are honest and have been focused on the upcoming season.

BTW...you act like I'm the only one talking about HC. You need to get out more!!

Put words in you mouth???...I asked a question on your comment. Reading your original post, YOU used "put work in" as a reason some will be surprised or that they will be better than some think. My point is, while they were "putting in work", so were many others. So I'm not sure that's a reason they will be better than others thought. I've already said I think they will be better than some are giving them credit for. Sorry, was that a bash?

Testy?! Never that! !! I didn't realize you were following the rules today!! I only noticed you jumped on HC thread as usual to say you like McClendon and Tucker but their not scorers...Not very complimentary!! Lololol. Sorry I disagree, they are both scorers as well as Gabbard and a few others, who like the previous poster mentioned didn't play much due to last years team. So, there's your answer. Still keeping them in top 5 IMO!

HC last year was a very tough matchup for anyone because of there size this year not so much. I am not saying they wont be any good because they will be and could contain for the regional title but not near as good as last years team, I think there are about 4 or 5 teams than them.

Okay, here's all direct quotes by me from in this thread. You focus on the opportunities for improvement and not the entire message. Again, thin-skinned. Read more than just what you want it to say.

• The two they have coming back are good guards (McClendon and Tucker)

• No doubt Tucker and McClendon play bigger roles. Love them both as players.

• Great defenders, ball handlers and Bball IQ (McClendon and Tucker)

• Agreed! Workhorse that was overshadowed by the stars. (about Abby Hassert, loved her too)

• I agree they will be better than some think. (HC’s team)

• McClendon is an outstanding PG and I think she will have a good year

• I really like both McClendon and Tucker as players and kids

• I wish the kids luck!

• I think she's always been hard to stop when driving to the basket one on one (McClendon)

• Again, I love the kid. (McClendon)

• My assessment has no bearing on how good of a player I think she is or how good she can be at the next level. (McClendon)

It's always negative with you and HC, in this case it even came down to name calling.. lololololol.. Pathetic! I noticed that every time someone supports or defends HC on a thread, you get it shut down. Not today. IMO, HC will compete at a high level rather you like it or not.... I STILL have them at top 5. :thumb: :dancingpa

So were all those bashing and negative? Or are you still only reading what you want to hear and skipping over the other stuff? Where did I call HC names??? Really??? Are you representative of HC???

And I know you were around last year when I was complimenting them on their run. Heck, I talked to you about it. So I'm not sure where "always" comes into play whenyou talk about my negativity. That ONLY comes into play on a few adults and one subject. Don't try to tag me as a HC hater. That's not true as a whole.

It's not always negative with HC. I like the school. I love some of the other coaches. I like a lot of the players, parents and alums. I root for them in other sports. I always have.

AND I STILL HAVE THEM IN MY TOP 5 AS WELL! So I'm not sure why you keep saying that??? LOL!
