Beechwood QB Kyle Fieger - Best Ever at Beechwood?

Featured Replies

Beechwood's QB Kyle Fieger became the starting QB in the playoffs of his freshman season. Based on info I was able to pull up, in his high school career Fieger has thrown 74 TD passes and only 4 interceptions. The thing that makes this even more impressive is he does not play in a pitch and catch, bubble pass, quick stick, quick slant type of offense. Beechwood throws the ball downfield. He has averaged over 15 yards per completion in his career. My research puts Fieger's career stats at this point as:

555 attempts

337 completions

60.7% complete

5,569 yards

74 TD's

4 INT's

Is Fieger the best QB in Beechwood history? I know this is a different era and there is much more passing today than in years past. What other Beechwood QB's should be considered as the school's best ever?

My guess is Wera and Hergott are in the conversation. I'll let BW historians weigh in on that. No clue on my end.

Agree with Wera and Hergott for sure. Mike Murray in the early 70's deserves mention also.

Stats wise I assume no one is even close, not even on the radar. From a football perspective, Hergott may be the best player to ever play for Beechwood.

Fieger is a 3 year starter, correct? Unless I'm mistaken, he's the only QB Beechwood has had start for 3 years in the last give-or-take three decades. Not trying to take away from his clear talent, but that seems like it will put him pretty far ahead in the stats race any way you cut it.

How good was Wilmhoff?

He was an awesome QB and LB.

So many good ones at Beechwood.

Who never really got the chance to chuck it. Overall, I like Wera more than Hergott in high school. Hergott was a stud and had a better college ready game though.

What's Guru's stats?

He is only a Jr this year right? He has only been a 2 year starter. He played Freshmaan ball until the Freshman season was over and then moved to starter for Varsity that year in the playoffs. So really last year was the first year he started a regular season game.

Wow, your'e going back to the days I fell in love with HS football. the Bailey Morelidge days and even the Mike Yeagle days with Gary Nussbaum kicking. Loved the 70's BW Football teams even though they did't win any state titles, that was good old fashioned smack down football.

What's Guru's stats?

No attempts, no completions but I did have a few TD's and INT's. :thumb:

He is a senior. 3 year starter.

Wow, I am getting old. Just seems like yesterday we were talking about a Freshman who came in to play QB in the post season for Beechwood and was lighting it up. How time flies when you have Alzheimer's.
