NO, Beechwood shouldn't get to play in any freshman championship game, unless it's in the small school division, because each and every year Beechwood picks and chooses to play up or down when it best meets their needs. Either play up at the start of the season, or down, but once the season starts you play the level you have chosen. They do this every year. Once the season gets going and Beechwood is having a good season, they want to play for the Big School Championship. I say NO! Next year start playing in the Big School Division from the start.

 

There is no 'big' school championship. There is only a championship for the froshmore division, or small school division... and that appears to be canceled this year. Every school can decide to move up or down depending on their numbers for that given season. Beechwood in the last several years has been blessed with large numbers in (2) classes. This years senior class played in the large school division (went undefeated) and this years freshman class (which should have been moved to the large school division). Had Simon Kenton known that this years freshman class could not compete with the larger schools they could have moved down.

Yes. Providing that a freshman does not take one snap at the varsity level... and does not play any other varsity sport, they can transfer. Smart schools, at the end of the year, will move up all of the talented players and get them in for a game. That's how they 'lock up' at kid. lol....but true.

Maybe Im just one of those rare people that cares who won and who lost a game or a season. I still remember my freshman year at Bellevue in 1966. Highlands spoiled our perfect season the last game of the year.

Beechwood appears to be the best of NKY this year. Congratulations.

Maybe they develop their players at practice instead of in a game and coach that winning is better than losing.

They would beat Highlands 9/10, Campbell County 10/10, Simon Kenton 10/10, Conner 10/10, Lloyd 10/10, Boone 10/10, Cooper 10/10 and Beechwood 5 out 10 times. They only reason I ranked Beechwood over Covington Catholic is because the one time they did play... Covington Catholic botched an extra point. As close as you can get.

Completley disagree on you assuming Covcath would win all those times if they played each team that many times. CovCath has a very good freshman team. However they are not a dominant freshman team. They are a team that is very good and is able to win. For example the last two Ryle freshman teams were dominant freshman teams especially last years. There are a few freshman teams that would win a few times if they played ten times.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. No team changes divisions after the season starts or request to do so. Also, you voted 'NO' that beechwood shouldn't be able to play in a championship game, 'big school' division, that doesn't even exist. So, the 'stunt' is what you tried to pull here.

Who cares? Beechwood is good and proved they can play with the big schools. Whether this team would go undefeated against all the big schools (as others have done in the past) doesn't really matter one way or the other - except maybe for people who plan to spend the rest of their life bragging about that undefeated freshman football team.

All kidding aside, I think it's neat that people still talk about their young sports days, on one hand it's interesting to listen to and hearing the stories "grow" over the years, but the best thing is it's something to tell the kids and grandkids.

Not at all, but Beechwood dropped down to the smaller school sch this year, and now that they have a good team, they want to play the Cov. Cath's. and well that's about it ( this season ). P.S. Highlands, Ryle and Campbell County would beat Beechwood freshman this year, but let's pick and choose who we want to play, and not Sch. NCC, CC, Ryle, Dixie, SK, Cooper, each and every year, just whenever it's convenient for us, and us only. Just go back and look at Beechwood's freshman sch. the past 5 years, you'll see exactly what I mean,( play up, play down ) again, it's the reality, congrats on a great season this year, (LOL)

The NO CALL led to a TD to make it a 2 score game. Instead of the Birds being inside the 20 and driving to take lead for a possible win. Yes Covcath won congrats!! Just stating I don't feel Beechwood would go undefeated if they played all the big schools was my main point.

You could be correct in your assertion, but this group of freshmen stack up pretty well against the Beechwood freshmen team of four years ago, maybe not quite as good, but pretty darn close. That freshmen team played in the big school league, of course that year there was only a big school freshmen league, and went undefeated.....they did not have a close game.

How does that equate to this year, not exactly sure, but my guess is that if they played the 8 game schedule they would probably go 7-1 or 6-2 at worse. Just my opinion.
