Ads on this Site

Some of the advertising on this site is making it NSFW. A "Rubber Club" ad? Really?

Pay your $20 and you'll never have to look at the ads again!

Unless I'm mistaken, the ad content is driven by each individual's browser history. I'm not trying to imply anything there (and I have zero clue what 'Rudder Club' is), but for what it's worth, that's where the ad content is being derived from.

And lawildcat is correct...Premium Members don't see any ads. The $20 I spend on BGP is one of the best uses of $20 I make all year long.

Really? I have done zero browsing for content in these ads and I'm the only person who uses this computer 99% of the time. I guess I need to look into the 1% of the time others use it. I noticed ads from Snappy Tomato Pizza, Foot Fungus, Trinity High School and Rubber Club. I've never browsed for any of these.

It doesn't mean you searched those specific things. Google ads show up based on a number of things mainly search history. :sssh: :D The Snappy and Trinity ones are permemant ads I believe not google target ads. I'm not 100% sure.

I just want to know how many people have searched for the Rubber Club after reading this thread lol.

I got a chuckle after I saw what my phone autocorrected there...

Jared Fogle said the same thing I'm sure.

Sorry, couldn't resist.:lol2:

Why do all my ads have farm animals in dresses.....hmmm

Ads get on your browser in different ways.

If you land upon a site that site may lead to you getting banner ads. Probably the most common.

Search terms can also direct types of ads to your page. Even though you do not land on a particular site after you Google the fact that the site came up in the search results can cause you to get banner ads.

Contextual ads can also come to your site. If you search for hotels you may get a rental car banner ad.

Lastly, you can be proactively targeted. If a business has a list that has things like your name, address, CSZ, email, and phone number then they can probably find your IP address and then proactively send you targeted banner ads.

....or you could be a VIP at The Rubber Club and they are just trying to welcome you home. Could be any of those.

Kind of scary how much information computers retain. Before I went Premium (as was stated, a decision worth the annual $20 payment) I would ALWAYS see ads for the last thing I looked at on Amazon. Its creepy for me to think that advertising companies remember what I looked up better than I do.

I bet you get a ton of targeted ads....

I don't get it on BGP, thankfully, but since I recently bought a new camera bag, I now get a whole slew of camera bag ads at seemingly every site I go to. Already got it taken care of, guys, but thanks.
