September 29, 201511 yr I am excited for Drew. I won't put too much weight into how he performs. I just want to see the kid get to play. Playing in your first college game is pretty exciting and I'm excited for him and his family.
September 29, 201511 yr And it will be twisted. As mentioned he is in a no win situation. I am a big fan of Barker and I look forward to seeing what he can do on the field. Hopefully folks will reign in their bias and be realistic about his performance. His first ever performance on a college field. Will be nice to see what he can do Edited September 29, 201511 yr by MentschTrachtGottLacht Fixed quotation box.
September 29, 201511 yr Complete guess on my part, but I'm thinking the staff has a few more designed QB runs in Barkers package. I would think just the opposite, I think PT is the better runner of the two. There have been plenty of designed runs all year but PT has not pulled it one time. I think once PT does pulls it and takes off down the field, the offense will go to the next level.

High school running success does not mean college running success. I seem to remember catching arrows when I said people were foolish to assume Morgan Newton would come in and run well against SEC teams. PT is not a read option guy. Not comfortable with it. It would be a great addition if he could get better at it.
September 29, 201511 yr I guess Stoops wants to make sure he plays well by playing him against a team that they will pretty much do want they want against. That would be the smart coaching thing to do, put players in the best chance for them to succeed, especially when it would be their first time on the field.
September 29, 201511 yr Well good, now we can put some of the discussion to bed. He either is or isn't ready. Let's see Yes because him looking like a Hero against EKU means he can be the hero vs the SEC. But then again if he doesnt look like the hero what does that tell us.
September 29, 201511 yr Yes because him looking like a Hero against EKU means he can be the hero vs the SEC. But then again if he doesnt look like the hero what does that tell us. Could tell you that he is playing in his first college game.
September 29, 201511 yr Could tell you that he is playing in his first college game. Exactly. Haters gonna hate though.
September 29, 201511 yr His last pass attempt was in 2013 against Anderson County. I just hope he runs to the right huddle.
September 29, 201511 yr Heck, I'm all for both doing "lights out". It makes both QBs better. Competition is good.

September 29, 201511 yr Such a vast number of players less highly recruited then Barker have done fantastic on their first college start... don't make excuses if he is ready to be a college QB he will execute simple as that.
September 29, 201511 yr Tells us it's his first College game action and things will only get better with more practice and time on the field. Didnt we say that about PT?

Not the issue. If he does good the Barker haters(ukfan, John Anthony, plantman) will say he should do good against EKU because they are an FCS school. If he does poorly then the Barker haters(uk fan, John Anthony, plantman) will say he sucks and that he should be kicked off the team and out of school. At the end of the day it's his first start and regardless of how he does I just hope he learns from his experience and grows as a player.
