The Tiger fan base is as strong as ever. The Wolford Era is one thing. Its a continuation of St. Xavier Football. There was successful football before during and after Mike Glaser. Coach Glaser loves St. Xavier. Coach Wolford loves St. Xavier. Both care for St. Xavier and put the kids and school ahead of themselves. So get off of the ERA bashing Bull crap.

 

Championships go in cycles. Look at Notre Dame, Florida, Texas, Michigan, Ohio St ect...

Trinity has athletes all over the field and Trinity's lines are bigger than the Tigers. For St. X to win or be competitive they will have to be the team with most disciplined the bigger hearts and the better coached team.

That is exactly what makes a football team better than other teams.

 

I live out of state, but when I come into town I get the many different viewpoints from friends and family members who follow X on a daily basis. From an outside perspective I'm still waiting to be able to identify the identity of a Wolford team and over the past two and a half years I have not been able to do that. I'm looking for a tough, consistent team and they have been consistently, inconsistent since Wolford took over.

I agree with your PRP assessment. If it stays close, I like X's chances.

I just don't think Wolford is as good as Beatty. At least not yet. I'm no X-pert (see what I did there) by any means, but the few times I've seen them, they weren't the X of the past. Trying to run an offense he didn't have the personnel for, defense seeming soft, poor or no adjustments. Could have just been him getting his feet wet, or maybe he's just not that great of a coach. That's still TBD.

With this rivalry before came banter between former teammates on the grade school level. Certainly we are bantering between the St Mary's and Holy Spirit, St Patrick, and Our Lady of Lourdes players which are the grade schools of our running backs so Trinity has knowledge of them. I don't love Trinity players, I don't hate Trinity players- I just don't know Trinity players, i.e. the leading tackler, the leading running back(s), the leading interceptor, leading reciever(s). I admire their talent but don't have strong feelings one way or another.

 

Just for the record, Trinity starting players or in the rotation on both sides of the ball represent the following churches/schools...

That being said, I thought Wolford did his best coaching job since coming to St X in the BG game this year, but I wasn't at the Central game so I'm not sure what happened there.

Thanks for setting the record straight on this, so many still believe that a majority of our guys come from non catholic schools etc, this shows how important the CSAA feeder system still remains to T and X for that matter, couldn't field a team without them!
