I'm implying here, but it sounds like you're trying to stir the pot a bit. There may have been a few post about someone not having a connection with the kids playing because they don't know exactly who they are. A T fan stated how many CSAA kids started and it seemed to die down.

I'm sensing this too as in the comment made earlier that "Trinity has a philosophy and X does too. Differences causing fans to not be as engaged or involved." Would love some expansion on that thought....!

Funny, no one complained when Duece Finch attended CSAA powerhouse Parkview Middle School in Southern Indiana.

Maybe a bit of pot stirring but I've also sensed both here and in actually talking to people for a few years now that there are people who follow X who think Trinity has sullied the rivalry by having kids on their team that aren't products of the CSAA. I would guess that my fellow Rocks feel the same way.

St. X follows their own set of guidelines when it comes to athletics. St. Xavier the school comes 1st. There would be no Football team if there wasn't a school 1st. That is Tiger mentality. A student of Trinity told me this. He said Trinity is better because you can go to St. X and get expelled for whatever reason and Trinity will take you. He then said St. X wont take you if Trinity expels you..... 1 instance of fundamental difference.

St. Xavier has a placement exam to get into school. Trinity does as well but St. X actually turns kids away that do not score well enough. St. Xavier does not offer classes to accommodate students that are not in certain levels of classes. Trinity does offer classes for kids that have learning issues and therefore can accept kids with scores that St. X can not take in for academic reason. St. X will not accept a student they feel will not have the ability to graduate with the curriculum standards to make it to college.

If a student graduates from St. Xavier the student will have met the prerequisites to be accepted into college.

Donald Brooks is at a Prep school because according to him he is not academically stable to be in a 4 year college that is why he had no offers.

James Quick and Jason Hatcher...yes they made it to college but their freshman year of college they get busted and Hatcher is suspended for the 1st 2 games this year for unspecific rule violations....just another black eye to football

There are bad apples everywhere St. X does their best to eliminate them!

 

I will say this. I would love to have all the best of the best athletes at St. X. It will never happen because of academic standards. St. X is a lot like Notre Dame and Stanford. The lower level academic athlete can not attend there. St. X is not a football factory. They are a factory of Students and Student Athletes.

 

NOW am I jealous to not win every year? Am I upset?

I will say this. I want to win and win we will. We win in swimming golf tennis wrestling baseball ect......Football we are successful. have we won recently? we have competed and we will get over the hump soon very soon! Heck St. X had Male on the ropes in the play offs a couple of seasons ago. St. X beat Trinity last season and just couldnt beat them in the playoffs.

I am a X Man and I want a X Man leading my programs. I want X Men playing for St. X. That would be Men that want to be X Men not just come to a school to play football. I want a higher standard! That is what I want and have at St. X.

 

last thing does anyone recall the incident with the wrestler at St. X in 2014. Lampey I think was his name. He was suspended for the wrestling regional and therefore couldnt wrestle in state where he was a 3 time state champion and a lock to win his 4th. That suspension probly cost St. X a state Championship. The kid had tobacco in his backpack.....Could that have been overlooked....yes! but it wasnt and I amm proud to say it wasnt. I want to be a part of a school that holds kids to a higher standard. That is St. X in a nutshell in my eyes.

 

I am not mad at all I am just passionate about St. X!

 

I support Coach Wolford, Coach Glaser or whomever the school deems to be the leader of the football team.

I'm counting 14 additional players that start or contribute in the rotation from 12 different public grade schools. I've said this before in older post since we are going down this path again - although some of them come from a public grade school, many are still "Catholic".

 

It is a greaT mixture and balance of ethnic, social and economic backgrounds. Catholic education and ideas working to provide outstanding opportunities academically, socially and athletically for different kids from all over our city.

 

With that, 14 kids may contribute from outside of the CSAA but we dress around 120 total players. I count an additional 17 players from Public schools on the roster that won't see the field - not sure how many of them will ever see the field. Top notch guys that attend Trinity for reasons other than football but still make huge continuations on the scout team (again, Coach Beatty has said it over and over again - the scout guys at T are the true MVP's).

 

Hopefully the info is useful.

I can name more kids who left Trinity and played for X (some for discipline reasons) then vice versa.

 

What was the name of the X grad who went to UK who was videoed tackling a hotel security guard into a pool?

 

Didn't some kids a X get busted a few years back for trying to make their own money on a copier?

 

Please don't act like X is above such shenanigans.

 

As to the whole restrictive nature of admissions at X, that's fine. If X wants to be restrictive and elitist and deny young men who may benefit from a Catholic education that opportunity so be it. We'll give them a chance at Trinity.

This is the reason my son picked Trinity over St X...and thank the good lord he did. He is well rounded in so many ways. If I were a St X fan or alum, I would be embarrassed by comments of this nature.

 

Oh, and by the way - our kids are TESTED now. ANOTHER fantastic way to get involved in the lives of young people and compliments to our Administrators, Teachers and Coaches.

 

Talk like this is the reason so many kids are moving on down the road to the South End school as well. Good, hard working, Blue Collar catholic folks picking DeSales over X...by they way, they are also winning state championships.

 

Bottom line, bad apples go to all schools and one isn't any better than the other - you just choose to believe and say things like that. You take your philosophy and we will take ours. I know I'm proud of the way we reach kids from different walks of life, have some of the best special education teachers in the country, housing system + block schedules - not to mention the best damn high school football coach in the country.

Desales are getting kids not stealing kids. Desales is a great choice. They are an excellent school.

You yourself said that X denies admission to young men that don't meet their standards. That certainly sound elitist to me.

All Tell. Ok pal I must ask you a question. So if you feel that you can not offer the programs or educate a student to their specific needs should you accept them or recommend them to go somewhere where they can get the attention they need?

BTW Desales rejected applicants this year so they are Elitist by your defintion
