Funny, no one complained when Duece Finch attended CSAA powerhouse Parkview Middle School in Southern Indiana.

 

You guys have taken my observation and built it to include school admission policies, and other pent up historical biases.That was not my intent. My specific observation is I don't know the leading tackler, the top two running backs, the top 2 receivers, the top interceptor, both cornerbacks for Trinity because they didn't play in the CSAA, so I don't know them or have love or hate for them. 18 played of the rotation in the CSAA. It seems like the rotation seems to be around 28-30 players. Yes, the QB is from a CSAA school.

Deuce Finch played for St Anthony of Indiana in the CSAA and Victor Anderson played for St Agnes and Coach Passafuime in the CSAA so they were known. Deuce is the son of two teachers and very intelligent well spoken young man.

X faithful know exactly who the T players are from the first time they play as freshmen. X casual fans learn who they are over the next 4 years. X elitists don't care; they only know 3 possible outcomes. 1) We won because we were better, 2) the scoreboard may not say we won but we were the better team, and 3) you are inferior because you have a handful of non-CSAA players and therefore we are better than you on a deeper, non-football level.

Now now Mr. Howell, not everyone can have a trust fund.

Trinity is giving 2.7 million in aid this year. And they distribute it equally - based on percentage needed - to all regardless of their need. X does not disclose how they distribute.

As far as the trust fund, St. X has always been more of the old money school than Trinity has. In fact for the better part of its history (at least until the last decade) the demographics were similar but Trinity had a considerably more blue collar feel. Most of the grads from its founding through the late 90s were the first generation of their families to go to and graduate from college.

 

Because of that difference T has always been more open and accepting of people who may have struggled. Students who were kicked out of X were given the second chance that X wouldn't give them. Sometimes that helped them and sometimes they got kicked out of T as well, but at least they were given the second chance.

 

Now as tuition rises and we see more and more children of college grads entering T as well there is going to be a degree of similarities between the two schools that didn't exist previously. That has started to happen already.

 

Either way I know that a young man can get a good education at either school. I just know that the culture of Trinity is the culture I want my son to know for the reasons listed above.

You and I both know that the determination for aid is not done by the school. It is done by and independent company, the same one that all the Catholic schools in Louisville use.

Good point: Back to the game. I have seen T play a few times and they should win it with defense. Woosley just has to not try to do too much, which he has been great at doing all season. Just get the ball to Reed, Jones, Carrico, Burns, Smith and let them do their thing. The O-line for the Rocks better treat this like a rematch of the Male game and play angry (inspired). If X can sustain a couple of drives with a balance of run/pass (and the occasional trick play) this will be a dogfight. Earlier I took T 28-21 and I am sticking with that. A 40-0 T win would not surprise me, but neither would a 22-17 loss. X hanging a running clock on the Rocks would be the only thing that would surprise me.
