Trinity has been drawing the same percentage of players from public and private since I played at T 20+ years ago!! I didn't hear these complaints from X when we were getting smoked on a regular basis during most of the 90's, please stop with the excuses. :idunno: X has plenty of talent and capability to beat T, just see last season. On with the game....!

 

I'm sure if there was a forum or if social media was around during the 90s the excuses would have been excessive. No excuses heard because no way to express them to a mass audience.

 

So X is elitist for having standards? So T isn't elitist because they don't have standards. Glad my parents wanted me to be elitist.

 

We have standards of course. You have to be a young man who wants a Catholic education in a school that is open and accepting. We even try to educate those that some other schools choose to ignore entirely in their educational focus. If by having no standards means giving more young men an opportunity for a Catholic education then by all means I'll take it.

 

Blimey, by the way some of you X guys talk you'd almost think that you have to prove your Catholic school heritage going back three generations. Not quite a "poll tax," maybe more of a "pew tax." :lol2:

I personally think it's hilarious that Louisville's two most significant Catholic High Schools Pot (T) and Kettle (X) are going after each other about things unrelated to the football game. As a football fan with minimal affiliations with either school I think it's safe to say each side is looking at things from behind their own respective "green" goggles. It's easy for both sides to claim the other is something they're not but both sides can't see the forest for the trees.

 

As far as the game is concerned... T has the advantage in terms of athletes on the field. X really has nothing to lose. I know the Tigers aren't looking for moral victories but keeping this one close should keep the seat cooled enough for Woolford to make a push.

To am outsider it probably does seem a bit like Dr. Seuss' Butter Battle Book, but there is a difference. I know to many in the public schools it's like one group of "rich boys" arguing with another.

 

The schools are probably more similar than they are different, but we can't let that get in the way of a good rivalry.

And now, back to the game........! Rocks 35 X 24. X fans relax, you have a difference maker and his name is Ridder, if he doesn't turn the tide for you guys this year I can almost guarantee he's gonna have a monster year next season. Trinity will have a tough time containing him on the turf, the kid can run so I do predict X will put points on the board against T. The difference in my opinion will be the Defenses, X is just giving up way too many yards to hang with T on the scoreboard. If X wins I wouldn't be shocked but I just feel their D is going to give up too much.

Yes, the game anaysis! If both teams play like the majority of their games, that scores sounds about right. But if Trinity plays like they did last year against X in the regular season and 2 weeks ago against LMHS, then St X will win by outscoring them. Looking at the Male-THS film, too many mistakes with penalties and linebacker reads and just getting beat by a physically superior team. St X doesn't have Keion Wakefield( and others!) so we'll try to spread you out and see if the linebackers stay with their keys.

2 plays in particular- one was the 1st td where H put 4 players to the right and T put 2 defenders out there. H had run the same play to the left and probably couldn't believe it. So the next play they ran it to the right and the Male reciever took the bubble screen and went in from 40 yards out. T made the adjustments but got shut out in the 2nd half so LMHS made some too.

The 2nd play was the Male TE snook out on a 3rd and long deep in Male territory and was wide open with 2 LBs peaking in the backfield. The gain picked up about 20 after the DB had to break off from his coverage and make the tackle. Male exploited the 5'9 corner back a number of times just out jumping and grabbing the ball. Once again, X doesn't have that type of athlete so it may be a moot point. Trinity special teams seemed a bit off too- not the strength of the foot but the first punt I think got blocked or at least affected. Trinity's punter takes about 2.3 seconds and 2-3 steps to get the punt off so Male probably thought they could get it.

 

This is not last year's St X team. Coach Nurnberg-offensive coordinator, has brought excitement to the offensive side so take away the turnovers, we can move the ball with 250 yards of offense against Henry Clay and PRP at halftime. I hope the weather holds off and we have a great intense game.

I totally agree w/ the point that our special teams have been off, esp our KO coverage, really hoping we have that corrected by Friday. Special teams could certainly be the difference in a game like this!!

If you watch or follow CSAA sports, you have to recognize many of the names. Plenty of Toy Bowls in our starting line up. But I'll name a few for you and the schools. I do appreciate the follow up but in all honesty, if you follow the CSAA, you know most of these kids.

 

Passing: Woosley (Edward)

 

Rushing: Reed (Crosby) and Smith (Farnsley)

 

Receiving: DJones(Edward), Carrico (Martha) and Burns (Johnson Middle)

 

Interceptions: Reynolds(Edward) Burns, Sydnor (Newburg), Bethel (Scribner)

 

Tackles: Lowe (Kammerer), Lococo (Edward), CSpencer (Albert)....and we all know everyone is aware of Foos (Holy Spirit). Hard to lead the team in tackles when you are double teamed ALL THE TIME.

 

Just giving you 1 and 1a leaders. Burns has 2 interceptions and the others have 1 interception. Jones leading in nearly all receiving catagories but Carrico and Burns right behind. Same thing on defense.

 

Our whole starting line is Lourdes, Albert, Mary, Stephen and Highland middle.

 

I didn't know that Robert Jones on your KHSAA sheet was Dalton Jones? Sorry for the oversight. Dalton and Jake had some good teams at St Edwards.

What about the others on the stat sheet or in the rotation? I know the Harpers from St Patrick- what about 42- Ahmed Johnson, 53- Robert Lewis, 26 Marcus Sides Johnson, I just don't know anything about them but the public school ones you gave me represent 79.2 % of the rushing carries, 80 % of the rushing TDs, 66 % of the receiving TDs, 80% of the interceptions, and 59 % of all tackles . You have some talented kids and thanks for enlightening all of us.

The initial question was has this game lost some of its luster and I hope that everyone shows up on Friday to see 2 talented teams compete.

Ridder's passing stats will tell the story of the game for X. He will get his rushing yards, but in the Central and PRP game his passion g stats were not up to par and thus the games were closer than expected, obviously losing to Central.

 

X defense can not sit back, they have to be timely with their pressure and be able to keep the T offense on their heels.

St X has had two very very poor outings this year. Both games were in the rain on a grass field. Obviously St X cannot run on a sloppy track. If this game was played in the rain on a grass field one would have to believe Trinity in a blow out. So the first question to ask is what is the weather going to be like Friday night. We know the field is turf so that may help St X if it does rain, but it remains to be seen. On dry turf St X has played very very well, but if it is wet???????????

I wonder how much the wet going may have impacted Trinity in their Male game?

 

On a side note Trinity played a bunch of juniors who start or are in the Varsity rotation on Friday nights during Monday's JV game against ST X sophomores and juniors who will not be seeing action this Friday. Hopefully the Trinity varsity players made it out of that JV game healthy and ready to play and no one is nicked-up. Hate to see a varsity starter injured in a JV game (or freshman game for that matter!!)

 

Lets hope for a good, injury free game Friday night that showcases two great football teams and schools.

Wrong. Name one Junior that starts Varsity for Trinity that played in the JV game. For that matter name one Junior that is in the starting rotation for Varsity that played in the JV game. Do some of the Juniors that played in the JV game get some reps on Varsity? Absolutely, hard not to when you are up by so much in every game.

75 votes and 160+ posts, most of which don't even involve the game. How about everyone (myself included) stick to football and leave financial aid, CSAA, JV players, etc. to other forums?

I normally don't defend my Trinity brethren but from the depth chart I have for tomorrows game, there seems to be only 4 -5 juniors who get in. John Lage, Noah Ellison, Jovan Smith, Zyan Bethel seem to be the only juniors who played that much against Male.

Ellison & Bethel are starters; Smith might as well be. Lage is a back-up, but a good one. Also Cole Spencer is a junior.
