The "maybe 2" would cause every kid from that school to get counted as 2 kids for enrollment purposes.

 

I'm only speaking of Kenton County. Turkeyfoot I assume is a feeder for Dixie. Woodland I assume is a feeder for Scott. Twenhofel I assume is a feeder for Simon Kenton. Not sure where Summit View falls.That's where the "maybe two" comes in. Don't know how the "count" would be made.

Generally, I'd say publics here have one maybe two. Of course Kenton County being open, it really doesn't matter. I know I've seen Brossart at one of Turkeyfoot's games.

I'm with you. Enforcement alone will create 10 new state positions. Crazy.

This would be a nightmare in my area, given how district boundaries are drawn up between Nelson Co. HS and Thomas Nelson HS. Bloomfield MS feeds to NCHS and Boston and New Haven feed to TNHS. OKHMS, however, feeds to both.

 

And that's not even getting into all the movement kids do between the parochial schools and Bardstown City back and forth between them and the county system.

In my area:

 

Central Hardin: East Hardin AND West Hardin are feeders.

Elizabethtown: T.K. Stone.

Fort Knox: Scott.

John Hardin: Bluegrass.

LaRue County: LaRue Middle.

Meade County: Stuart Pepper.

North Hardin: J.T. Alton AND North Middle.

 

HOWEVER, you also have St. James (K-8) which has no direct high school (no Catholic high school in Hardin County; St. James kids routinely go to Central Hardin, John Hardin and Elizabethtown).

 

Wouldn't change Central Hardin one iota.

 

However, could bump John Hardin back to 5-A or 6-A (definitely move JH track and CC programs back to 3-A) and could knock Elizabethtown to 4-A.

 

But I don't see something like this happening in Kentucky.

 

There are also Hardin County kids who end up in schools in Nelson County (Bethlehem), LaRue County (Sonora/Upton) and Jefferson County (want to attend a parochial).

 

Also wouldn't change anything for X, T and SHA (who all compete in the biggest class possible). Might hurt the KCDs, CALs, DeSaleses of the world, though.

Your talking about the OHSAA, you know, the ones that have a rule that you can coach your school team all season long, but then cant be those kids coach in the post season for JR high wrestling.

 

Yeah how stupid is that.

The big effect of this rule wouldn't be so much in football as in other sports, which aren't classes in Kentucky anyhow. Love the idea behind it though.

The disparity would be worse for small private schools than it is for public schools playing them in just about any class. Ballard has a much better chance against T or X than Covington Holy Cross ever will.

 

Besides it isn't just private schools. Male beat Trinity, arguably the best private school in the state, 42-13 just a few weeks ago. The private schools are not unbeatable.

A couple of years ago, they decided to go to 7 divisions by separating Division 1 (into big schools and small (big) schools forming Division 2, and moving other divisions down. This is no more than a direct assault the 'privates'. LaSalle went to Division 2, and now they have dominated D2 the last 2 years. So the next step will be to divide D2 and then have 8 divisions.
