Like Glen Miller from Campbell, I know Mark Raleigh on a personal level too because our daughters used to hang out/have play dates together. I always liked Mark. However, we did have a discussion once about hiring a football coach to replace Rick Thompson and I can assure everyone Mr. Raleigh and I were not on the same page.

Allegedly this is an internal investigation into something the overall Boone County School Principal, Mark Raleigh, has allegedly done. I believe it was last Friday Mr. Raleigh was escorted off the property by either the Superintendent of Boone County Schools or one of his representatives. I am also told Mr. Raleigh is currently suspended and not serving as the Principal at Boone County.

I think the truth will be out soon enough. Perhaps it is not anything like what may have gone through my mind or yours.

 

Yes, since it is related to a public school official, the public does have a right to know, as far as it effects his role as Principal. But I, for one, can wait until the school makes its official statement.

 

And no, I do not have any idea whatsoever about what is going on.

They average 300-330 per class, total enrollment just above 1300.

Through the years I have talked to a lot of people about hiring committees and the overwhelming complaint is that the person that ultimately makes the decision on the hire either doesn't follow the recommendation of the hiring committee and/or the entire "hiring committee process" was a total sham and only used as a justification for the person in charge to make the decision they wanted all along.

I guess that depends on how many facts you know and how much you speculate.

 

Also, putting the fact that many of us know Mark aside, assume none of us knew him and the school system was able to successfully keep this all hidden from the public until they made their final decision. In cases like that way too much slides by for my taste because often the school system doesn't want a black eye too.

 

Frankly, I believe when any school Principal is suspended from his/her job there should be a public announcement made about it. That announcement can include under investigation, no more comments, blah blah blah but the secrecy is a bad thing for the general public good.
