Russell offense will be back in sync with McKee back against West.

Also if West does somehow pull the upset I'll be the first one to congratulate them.

Russell will focus all efforts on the QB and make someone else beat them....and West doesn't have someone else that can. It all runs thru the older Brown and the ball won't leave his hands when the team begins to struggle.

 

I also expect a game plan of being very physical on every play from Russell.

I think McKee's ready to roll, but a few other Devils were out last week against Boyd Co. Gaurd Daniel Mell was sick and didn't make the trip. DE(and leading tackler) Nick Pennington was there but didn't dress. Maxx Blackburn sat out the 2nd half with what I believe was a stinger. And worst of all, WR/DB/PR Jacob Howard may have suffered a season ending knee injury.

 

Having McKee back will be a huge boost to the team. He adds another dimension to an already dangerous backfield. He had the best passing performance of his career against West Carter last year.

 

Aside from the Ashland game, Russell's defense has been outstanding. In their three wins they've given up an average of 9pts and 156ypg. Braden Brown had a couple of long runs in last year's game, but Russell shut down everyone else to win 34-6. West is clearly better this year, but they'll need others to step up and help their QB if they want to notch their first ever win over Russell.

This game will show us exactly how good West is, sure they can beat down East (ugh), Powell, and other schools big but how will they do against a team that is good.

 

If Russell wins them Russell wins and won't even be challenged in the district

Tough game for sure. I really don't know how to predict this one. I'm worried about wearing down late in the 2nd and 4th quarters just like the Raceland game and giving up something easy that could change the game. It won't be hot so that will help, being at home couldn't hurt and the Comets are healthy. Russell should be the favorite. Its all fun and games until someone smacks you in the mouth. No doubt the Comets can step up and win this one but we will see Friday night.

West Carter IS by far faster than Russell. Are they as physical as Russell that will be determined Friday night. If West holds Conley under or at 100yrds rushing and West throws for 2 or more TD's West will get the win. I think Russell is overrated this year and West is underrated, so I think it'll be a great game!

I heard the speed thing originally from a Russell coach I know.

 

This game is the district championship game though without a doubt.

 

I think Russell is going to come out with a game plan obviously to limit what Braden can do on the ground. I don't know if people can give him enough credit for how fast he is, if it wasn't for Baker he's the fastest kid in the area. Their 100M time is only a quarter of a second in difference. Peyton Brown is fast as well and a lot more physical of a runner than Braden.

 

Does anyone know if Braden has gotten any offers for football? Don't think he would be a QB but he's such a good athlete he has to have some offers to some schools.

That 10.79 was ran at the 2a state championships this past track season.

 

Now here is how Braden Brown progressed in track though junior season in 100 meters

I could see Braden playing somewhere in college.

I had thought I saw somewhere that Braden's best time was an 11.07 on some Kentucky track website. Either way both kids are the fastest in the area, I can't even imagine what they could do together in a backfield together in this area.

 

This being at West could be a big advantage for the Comets. I am really just split down the middle on this one.

I wish Friday would get here on big games it always seems like the week goes so slow.
