Clemson 20 Louisville 17

Featured Replies

Despite Radcliff only rushing for 2.3-2.4 per carries. I love how Petrino has an 'Iron sharpens Iron mentality'. He knows in order to win, you must have a strong run game & he is not going to abandon that just because they can't right now.

I am sure that Dabo Sweeny is hoping that this was that one game that his team is M.I.A., the one they usually lose by playing down to the competition. Clemson played horrible, imo the consistency of the one RB that had around 170-180 yds. or so rushing won the game for them.

No doubt. Their QB 'getting out of jail' so-to-speak on several occasions were huge plays as well.

Can't forget that FSU has to go to Death Valley. It's rarely as easy to win there as the anoles made it look in 2013. Plus they've looked rough themselves.

FSU will have no problem with Clemson. Georgia Tech is the team they have to worry about.

Maybe Louisville should recruit outside of Louisville?

Radcliff low average totals were mainly do play calling and lack of imagination by the OC. The pitch plays to him were losses. They kept running him with the Lamar/Reggie package thinking they could fool Clemson.

Radcliff is a good runner but when the coaches give you lousy, slow developing plays or when the defense knows you are getting the ball, you are not going to have a good game.

A 1-5 start is beginning to feel like a real possibility.

It's hard for me to be critical of too much given that the offensive line woes seem to be at the root of just about every problem. They were completely dreadful at the start of the game and only got marginally more useful.

Don't believe Quick played. Having him back will help some. The future ultimately hinges on the OL, IMO.

1-6 is a real possibility. Boston College plays FSU tonight. I expect that to be a good game.

Jamari Staples was expected to be a starting receiver as well. Been out since his injury the day before the Auburn game.

As rough as things have looked for Louisville, I'll eat my hat if the Cards lose to BC at home.

Noted :lol2:

Twice in the 2nd half Radcliff missed running lanes on stretch plays and continued to try to bounce the play wide. Some of it is on him.

Was hoping the Cards would take this one, got to get the wins where you can.

Very much.

Bang it, Bend it, Bounce it as they are coached to do on those. Bounce it isn't always the answer.

Their offset I looked good at times, one drive in particular during the 2nd half when Lville was back up inside their own end zone (open end). Their IZ lead (zone iso, without the traditional gap schemes most associate with iso) and split flow IZ (fullback away from flow) looked well.

The biggest downfall to Petrino's one back run game is there just isn't much you can do. You can run IZ, OZ/Stretch, Quick Pitch and IZ Lead/Iso pulling the backside guard as he would on traditional power to take the place of the missing FB or H-back. You can run counter (GT schemes or G-H back when he is at the wing), but I don't recall seeing that last night. Granted, I didn't watch every snap.

Someone else noted it, but their OL has its woes, too. They are just a very average (if that) offensive football team right now very much largely in part to personel for the moment. They'll get better.
