The NCC game vs Lloyd will be a good one. Can't wait to see who wins that battle.

McCracken moved up to #10 this week.

6A MC Beats 2A Mayfield in OT and they move up....wow. Go Cards!

 I always pull for the "fish-eaters", like any good catholic should. :)

I'm a good Catholic fish-eater. Just because not all of us can pony up the tuition anymore doesn't mean that we can't send our kids to the 6A public schools and still pick up a filet-o-fish in the drive thru. :) Hahahahaha!!!

Speaking of NCC, chances are good that it will be NCC in the finals vs. the DeSales/Mayfield winner so the Breds have to be in the discussion.

And DeSales the 5th best team in KY, come on Jason! How would we know with their schedule?

Assuming you don't have a problem with my top four (Male, Trinity, Scott County and Simon Kenton), I'd be curious as to who you think should be No. 5?

Honestly, I struggled with it. The other teams I considered are Bowling Green, St. X, Manual, South Warren, Belfry and Boyle County.

Decided to throw out BG because of loss to St. X and St. X because of loss to Central. And if DeSales were to play Manual, South Warren, Belfry or Boyle County, I'm pretty sure I'd go with the Colts. (However, I finally will see DeSales play tonight at Fern Creek and reserve the right to change my opinion.)

Who else should I be considering for that No. 5 spot?

Tonight's DeSales and Manual games will help decide this. I say #5 is between DeSales, Manual and South Warren. You will be able to compare Manual and DeSales from common opponents Fern Creek and Ballard after tonight. South Warren handled Central Hardin more easily than Boyle County so I take South Warren between those two. It will be hard to keep South Warren high though because their schedule is not very challenging the rest of the way. That means they will not get opportunities for benchmark wins like some of the other top teams. As of today before tonight's games, Manual would be #5 for me.

The team you did not mention that I say keep an eye on is Bryan Station. I know they lost to Simon Kenton but the way they rolled over Cooper makes me think they are a team to watch.

Here's the way I'd rank the states Top 10 right now, Desales would come in at #11 ..

MALE

TRINITY

SCOTT CO

S.KENTON

MANUAL

ST X

BRYAN STATION

B.GREEN

PULASKI CO

S.WARREN

The Next 10:

DESALES

J.CENTRAL

BOYLE CO

PRP

MCCRACKEN CO

LAFAYETTE

BELFRY

CENTRAL

MAYFIELD

RYLE

I agree with Voice on Bryan Station. I would also take X and BG over DeSales. Additionally, I would probably go with both Owensboro and Pulaski County over DeSales. Some of the others you mentioned are surely in the discussion too.

To you Jason and everyone, I am not beating up on DeSales, they have had some fine teams in the past but if this year's team is similar to the recent past there are numerous teams I would probably rank ahead of them.

I will go one step further, even though this is a tangent, if DeSales was playing in 6A by the end of the regular season I don't believe they would be ranked in the top ten. Frankly, there is no way any 2A school could stand up against a 6A schedule without some injuries and losses.

I don't know if it will affect anyone's opinion of DeSales, but it might help to know they have about 66 players (grades 10-12) on the roster. That DOES NOT include freshmen.

DeSales does not have a typical roster for a 2-A school.

And until a Lexington 6-A school even pretends to compete with a Louisville 6-A school, there's no way I'm putting one in the top five.

I hear you but unless DeSales is way up from previous years I am saying no way on #5 in the state.

Competing with Male, X, and T vs. beating DeSales is Apples and Atom Bombs.

Well, look at it this way: Central beat St. X and I believe DeSales is better than Central.

We both know X is struggling to find their offensive identity and if X and DeSales played today and my life depended on it I am taking X.

Still, based on previous years of watching DeSales and other top teams in KY I don't believe DeSales is on that level.

It is a shame DeSales doesn't play a better schedule because then the ranking wouldn't be so highly speculative.

Either way, it is good food for debate.
