Let's put the spotlight on some of the top players in 1A and put together a list of who the top 11 players are. It is so easy to list 11 RB's, QB's and WR's, I say that 5 of the 11 have to be linemen. Let's get the guys in the trenches some love. I have a number of players I can list and will throw my list in here later. I want to see who the posters come up with first. You can list your own top 11 or you can name 1 or 2 players who should be on the list. If you can, please give us some info on the players you list and why they should be in the top 11. Here we go ...

Pick one, or two, who you think are the best on the team and tell us about them.

And welcome to BGP!

QB- Kash Daniel- Paintsville

RB Darric Pugh-Pikeville

RB Ethan Stringer-Beechwood

WR Jason Johnson-Hazard

WR Kendom Young-Campbellsville

WR-Brett Slusher-Beechwood

OL-Spencer Robinson-Hazard

OL- Johnathan Lemaster-Paintsville

OL-Tanner Roop-Pikeville

OL- Dalton Shackleford-Williamsburg

OL-Caden Townsend-Raceland

Isaac Wallace (Jr) is a stud lineman from Raceland. He is a 3 year starting lineman. If he played in NKY, you'd all know his name. Ask any coach in our area and he would be a unanimous pick, guaranteed.

I will have to go with Bret Slusher from Beechwood at WR or LB, pick your poison. Ethan Stringer from Beechwood at RB now that he is rounding into football shape, and last, but not least from Beechwood, Justin Overstreet at either OL or DL, thus far he has been the glue that has held Beechwoods inexperienced line together.

I will nominate MJ Jones JR RB/CB for Russellville. In 3 games so far this year, he has rushed 27 times for 350 yards and 7 TDs. He has 13 tackles, a blocked punt in the endzone and at least 1 forced fumble I saw. Very good player!

Do any good players play defense?? Just saying.

Thanks for the heads up. Does he have the size to be considered for the next level?

Always like to see the line getting some well deserved attention.

6'1" 280

Bethlehem High School senior William Brown #63 6'1' 310 pounds. Four year starter at Center and Defensive Tackle. He can also long snap. Quick feet, good hands, physical player. Im pretty sure he has been an All-District at both positions. Getting some looks from D1 schools (I dint know which ones). I will attempt to find his stats and other info like 40 and weight max's and post them.

Skilld, I'm under the impression that "most" of the 1A teams best players play both ways. My Russellville guy (#7 above) plays RB and CB. I think MANY do this.

Beechwood QB Kyle Fieger should be in this discussion. As a passing QB, either him or Roy at Fairview is the #1 passing QB in 1A. Last year Fieger completed 60% of his passes, 21 TD's and 2 INT's.

Jake Martin (Junior) Defensive and Offensive lineman from Brossart is tearing people up on the line. Leads the Mustangs in tackles (33) and sacks (3.5) and has been starting on both sides of the ball since he was a Freshman.

Russellville also got some big news recently. I read in the bowling green daily news that Jr. Rb/S Johnny drumgole who had 64 rushing attempts for 706 yds and 10 rushing td last yr is set to return as soon as the khsaa

rules him eligible. He moved to Atlanta during the offseason. But most important, it's adds another player to their defense which will be the key. They must improve defensively if they want a chance to play on the carpet.
