Bluegrasspreps' Class 3A Rankings 9-7-15

Caldwell in its first season as a 3A team seems to have jumped right back into the fire. The west 2A is LOADED, was last year and is again this year. The state title in 2A will again be determined in the semis (probable Mayfield/ DeSales matchup). Jumping to 3A this year, and again the west 3A is LOADED (Boyle Co, Lex Cath, PT, Etown, and Bardstown) with Belfry sitting on the other side with what seems to be a cake walk to the finals (much like NCC has had for several years in 2A). It is a shame that two teams from the same side of the state can't fight it out for a title in BG.Some really good teams getting shortchanged. Gotta love the west brackets though. Some great football played in the west that is much overlooked by most of the state.

I found something that I have found interesting. I'm not the guy that is known for his Calpreps usage but there has been some others in the past that has posted some interesting matchups. I just wanted to see everyone's opinions on this:

neutral field

[2015] Boyle County (Danville, KY) 34, [2015] Belfry (KY) 17

I think Boyle is the best team in this class right now and I'm not sure anyone is very close to them.

If they were to play today, that very well might be the result and I wouldn't scoff at anyone making that prediction.

In reality, if these two teams meet it will still be 12 weeks away and a lot of stuff can change in 3 months. My confidence level tends to go up a lot the deeper my team goes in the playoffs.

Central would give Boyle Co. every thing they can handle. In reality I do think Boyle is best, but football is all matchups and Central has an element Boyle Co., will realistically probably only see in Danville which is speed. I don't think Danville has it on the same level as Central.

I wouldn't bat an eye at that prediction.

Belfry will just chop the wood though and if their pass defense comes around and the offense finds their rythym then they will be ready to challenge.

Boyle is the crime de la creme right now.

They don't. You are absolutely correct. And Central also owns the best win of any 3A team so far this season.

I feel that. Boyle County is getting better every week but anyone from Boyle County who thinks the 3A state championship is a done deal for the Rebels is delusional. Central, Caldwell County and that pesky LexCath team that we haven't been able to defeat since 2011 all stand in the way before a chance to possibly meet Belfry is even a conversation. BnG is my dude but we'd be wise to not poke the bear right now. It's not like the target on our backs isn't big enough right now.

Central Hardin had some pretty good speed as well. But you're right nevertheless. Central has speed for days. It would be an interesting matchup if it comes to that.
