I think I would put Jones first, then Beach, then Blume, West and Gross.

Jones wasn't the best back on his team, best college prospect but not best RB.

I'd probably put them in this order:

1a Howard

1b Beach

1c West

4 Jones

5 Gross

then J. Ortega, Robbins, Renfro, J. Lawson, M. Slone, and then maybe Blume.

That's a lot of excellent backs from that area, no doubt. I am not sure you can count Renfro as EKY from Southwestern Pulaski County, but he was a dandy one!

WYMT Coverage AREA.....So I'm counting him.

Renfro rushed for approximately 2,400 yards with 36 TDs in 11 games as a senior for SW, so IMO he is up there on the list.:thumb:

IMO, the best two this part of the state has seen played for the same Belfry team year before last.

Do you mean just in recent years or all time?

I've said it before and I'll say it again......Blume doesn't belong in a Top 5 EKY RB equation.

It's Beach, West, Howard, Jones, & Gross, in no order.....then the rest...argue away.

By the answers i was seeing I assumed it had to be limited to just a few recent years

Depending on how far back they are going, I would have to add Terry Howell out of Raceland (graduated in 76') in that group, imo he would certainly be in the top 5 backs that I ever have seen in this area. Beach may be the best that I have seen. Jim Dunaway (Greenup Co.), Mike Jones (Russell) are two others from years back that would have to be mentioned along with the Jones kid at Belfry from just a few years ago.

If you really believe that, then you are looking at this comparison with blinders on.

Beach is by FAR a better back than Blume. Not only is he a better RB he is a better overall football player, end of story.

Opinions vary. I have no dog in this hunt. I saw them both play, liked them both a lot, and I agree that Beach was better. But by your numbers he was 4 times the player than Blume? Wow! Nothing like getting an 'unbiased' opinions! ;)

I don't think many have denied that on here! Yes, Beach was a better back.

I never claimed to be unbiased, its pretty obvious that Im about as biased as they come. Yes, Beach was ATLEAST 4 times better than Blume, maybe 10 times better. ;)

I don't get what is so hard to comprehend about the differences in Blume/Beach. You take Beach every day of the week and twice on Sunday. He's a Division 1 RB recruit and Blume, while a good high school back, will probably not see the field at an NAIA school.
