NKY Football Coaches Poll: Week 2

Featured Replies

I definitely see Scott as a top 10 school but not top 5 yet. They are playing a better schedule and they do have some really nice athletes. Wooley and staff have done a good job. It takes a few years to get that winning attitude entrenched in the program.

As for the rest of the Top 10, I think SK and Cooper are a toss up for 1 and 2. I would say Highlands and Ryle for 3/4. 5-10.... No idea.

No way Scott is #5 . They couldn't beat CovCath or Beechwood. Since Scott likes playing small schools, they should put Woolley's alma mater back on the schedule

I'm not sure they would beat CovCath either but I'd give Scott a big chance against Beechwood. I would love to hear the opinions of the Lloyd and Dixie fans on who they think is the better team, Scott or Beechwood?

More coaches thought Cooper was number one than Simon Kenton yet they finished second. That means someone put them third or below. Not sure who voted so it's hard to guess.

I am not sure what your problem is with Scott and them turning things around. It is like people hate to see them do good or can not accept it.

I don't think it is that anyone has a problem with Scott, I think most people are just in the wait until they play more games category. Even with Scott's winning records the last two years, I believe they started both seasons 5-0 or close to that, and then stumbled down the stretch against quality teams. The schedule is upgraded, minus this week, which they will name the score. But I, like most others, are waiting to see what happens with Scott when they play some better teams to see how good they really are.

I hope they win every game on their schedule, but I will remain optimistically skeptical until they progress into the back half of their schedule.

I would like to see Cooper down around #6

Hard to rank Cooper behind Highlands after they beat them in my opinion. If Highlands beats SK and SK beats Cooper, then I could see it.

Just speaking as someone who likes it better when Cooper is not on the radar, lol. It wouldn't bother me if they weren't even on the top 10 at all.

Not that at all! However, to say that Scott can beat someone like Beechwood or CovCath this year, beat someone on the same level as them and then I will hear the argument. Until then, they have improved drastically, but aren't there just yet. The win over NCC is fine, but you beat them without their best player who would've made a difference. The great thing about this argument is that we will find out soon when they play SK, Conner, or Bourbon

I hear you.

No doubt that Smith would have made a difference. Remember though, that Scott is playing without one of it's most dynamic players on offence, Deondre Pleasant. The Connor game will certainly tell us much more about where Scott belongs in the rankings. I think you can make the argument that Beechwood and Cov Cath may belong ahead of them in the rankings. But this year, so far, neither of those teams have beaten anybody of the caliber of teams that Scott has beaten. And in direct comparison, LLoyd scrimmaged Scott and got blown out and couldn't score, whereas they did compete for a bit against Beechwood. And Scott beat Dixie just as bad if not a little worse than Beechwood did in a scrimmage. To say that Scott doesn't have a chance against Beechwood, at this point, I just don't think is accurate.

I can see Scott playing Conner and Bourbon very well , and would not be surprised if they don't end up winning both of those matchups. (Not blow outs). But a win !! As for SK, I think they are to deep for Scott . They are a large 6A squad , with talent. It is also the last game of regular season before playoffs . (injuries need to be avoided ).

I didn't even pay attention to that until you brought it up. Very interesting. Someone isn't a Cooper fan. Did ukfan get a vote?

That's why I'd like to know what coaches voted. I could possibly see Ryle's coach putting Ryle second and Cooper third but can't figure that anyone else would.
