***UPDATE*** I just heard all games are cancelled until next week!

8th grade state tournament schedule.

 

It looks like Blessed Sacrament has a nice opening round game vs North Pulaski the two time defending state champ.

 

Looking forward to watching Jackson and Disken matchup with Colten Fraley. Fraley has been ranked as one of the best guards in Kentucky for a couple years. They also have two 6'5" kids. Jake Sloan who was also on the Ky Football Allstar team is one of the better bigs in the state.

Highlands loses 1 game in 2 yrs and gets a 2 seed?

Several NKY 8th grade teams playing KBA this weekend but don't see 20-2 Highlands.

I think it's an 89 team field. Considering the Sunday rule, I was surprised to see Boone Co being represented so well and Camp Ernst not being one of them.

Yeah, they need to take a look at the seeding process for sure.

 

It's based mainly on district wins.

 

7th was only a #2 seed because they won 9 district games and Woodland won 10. Woodlands record in district is 10-2 and HMS is 9-1.

 

It could've been even worse for the 8th grade. Highlands was 10-0 in district and had 2 teams that wouldn't reschedule make up games.

Summit View was 10-2 with 2 loses both to us. We've beat Summit View 4 straight times this year and didn't lose any district games and our #1 seed came down to a coin flip with them...luckily we won. Tell me that's not a joke.

We would've went. We wanted to go last year too. Someone put the brakes on that. Not really sure why it got axed.

 

Definitely not saying HMS wins but we would've made a respectable run.

I remember when my son was in 7th grade, the coach didnt want to do it so myself and another Dad took 8 of the kids down and participated. We went 1-2 and got beat by Scott Co by about 25 in our final game but it was a good experience.

HMS should have been competing in this tourney annually starting after the team with Kowolonek, Lother and company. Do not believe the school wants to get involved. If you do what Q did, you run into problems because everyone was not included. It is a no win situation. However they used to say Dads coaching was a problem, but apparently that has been put to bed as well.
